The wood frame one-story residence is centered around the living and dining space with a four meter ceiling height.
High side lighting allows light to permeate through the full depth of the kitchen, and also allows for ventilation. Sliding glass doors face the backyard to highlight the space’s horizontality, and the high side lighting faces the sky to highlight its verticality.
String Lights by Michael Anastassiades compliment the open layout of the living and dining space. The thin cables drawn across the room accentuate its volumetric quality, and makes prominent the ceiling height and expansiveness of the space. One portion of the living and dining space is composed of exposed concrete walls, which serves to both break up its homogeneous spatial expression as well as to dampen the sounds of the piano.
The positioning of housework activities in plan, such as the entrance being connected to the kitchen by means of the pantry and the family closet being adjoined to the washroom and dry room, makes for a simple and convenient circulation that cuts down on time for household chores and makes room for a pleasant living experience.
