Parade Eyewear is a functional and aesthetic space designed to meet the specific needs of an independent boutique and optometry clinic. Located at the heart of Espace Montmorency in Laval, this eyewear boutique was initially intended to occupy a 1,200 sq. ft. space. However, following a reassessment of its needs, Parade Eyewear required a larger area to fulfill all its requirements. As a result, the project included expanding the boutique to accommodate a greater number of frames as well as a second optometry room, ultimately reaching a total area of 1,800 sq. ft.

The available space was optimized by creating distinct yet harmonious zones tailored to the various functions of Parade Eyewear. The design and architecture encourage a smooth flow for both clients and staff while providing a welcoming and ergonomic environment. Situated on the ground floor of a residential tower, the space unfolds in an irregular triangular shape, with two long sides featuring glass façades. Consequently, there was only one wall available for plumbing installations and clinical equipment passage.

The presence of structural columns at the heart of the space posed a significant challenge; integrating them into the project was essential. These two design challenges gradually became the foundation of the concept's narrative: "creating a promenade inspired by an outdoor terrace."

Natural light, abundant and dynamic, became an integral part of the concept, offering a changing spectacle throughout the day. To enhance and emphasize this interior/exterior theme, the design team chose to incorporate greenery, whose shadows and reflections are now part of the materiality. The structural columns, treated as the pillars of this microcosm, symbolize large trees—roots doubling as display stands, trunk textures transforming into mirrors, and the canopy gently brightening to welcome light.

Clients can shop for frames within an organically and timelessly arranged space. This promenade integrates the frames as objects of beauty punctuating the journey, naturally inspiring the boutique’s name.

Parade: an outdoor procession showcasing talents, skills, and joyful events. Parade becomes a destination—a place of visual richness.

Special attention was given to the choice of lighting in collaboration with Lumigroup, echoing the concept. Suspended like large parasols diffusing sunlight and featuring rounded shapes, the light fixtures find their reflection on the floor in custom-designed displays that mimic the organic pathway of the indoor garden. From the lighting to the displays, everything was designed to amplify Parade's unique signature.

A material palette emphasizing natural and warm tones for the flooring and light, airy colors above seamlessly integrates into the space’s universe, meeting the clinical criteria for an eye health-focused environment while catering to a wide range of clients. The natural tones and understated boutique atmosphere ensure that the frames remain the focal point, highlighting their shapes, colors, and personalities—like flowers brightening the bushes in a park.
