Chromatic studies and the search for geometric compositions were the design basis and focal points for the renovation of the apartement in the seaside village of Grado. The client's passion for colour, in particular shades of blue and yellow, provided the stimulus for the creation of an architectural kaleidoscope that could give new life to the flat.
The new interior distribution is provided by the installation of a movable wall that allows the spaces to be managed in a flexible and customised manner. The living room, kitchen and master bedroom can be joined or divided as required. To emphasise versatility and dynamism, it was decided to clad the connecting wall between these rooms with a full-height tiles texture that gradually changes in colour and geometry. In order to unify the composition, the floor, in white and blue tiles, floods all the rooms with its curvy shapes.
Bespoke for the project, the canopy bed, sofa and coffee table establish a dialogue with the other Scandinavian furniture that has been selected to fit the flat. The reinterpretation of a porthole for the plywood structure of the bed, the bending of ship hulls used for the linen seat of the sofa, and finally the use of Grado island shape for the mosaic coffee table, emphasise the seaside atmosphere of the flat.
