Located in a historic Georgian townhouse in New Yorks West Village, Argentine-American designer Sebastian Zuchowicki has created a unique space that combines the warmth of home with the energy of work. The talented designer founded his eponymous interior design studio in 2020, at a moment when the world is rethinking the meaning of home. Today, his home-cum-studio is not only a creative hub, but also an embodiment of a harmonious balance between life and work.

Sebastians vision began with a bold decision to incorporate work elements into the living space, blurring the line between comfort and creativity. He found an ideal venue in Manhattans West Village, an entire floor of a Georgian townhouse built in 1886. This choice meets his daily needs and also reflects his high pursuit of aesthetics and functionality.

I wanted this space to make my team feel at ease as soon as they walked in the door, he explains. So, inspired by nature, he chose soft neutral tones with rich textures to create the atmosphere. Plaster walls, in place of traditional white walls, contrast with richly coloured wooden floors and serve as the perfect backdrop for furniture and artwork.

The living area combines family atmosphere with professional function. On one side is a comfortable meeting area and on the other side is a dedicated work area designed for teams. Zuchowicki skillfully blends these Spaces together to make them both creative and relaxing. The design elements show his unique taste, and the retro furniture forms a rich visual effect, injecting a touch of modern art into the space.

The compact kitchen perfectly illustrates the essence of New York life. While Sebastian admits he doesnt cook much, he brings a strong visual impact to the space. Black Roman clay walls, stainless steel countertops and charcoal-colored skirt panels combine to create a dramatic and functional place. Its a kitchen, more like a work of art, he laughs. Like Carrie Bradshaws kitchen, its more for display.

The master bedroom continues the design theme of the overall space, but adds more privacy and tranquility. Dark green plaster walls with terracotta Ivan Da Silva Bruhns carpet and bamboo shutters create a natural balance. Opposite the bed is a vintage desk by Jean Prouve, while folding wood screens designed by Zuchowicki for the James Bradley Hotel personalize the space.

For Zuchowicki, the space is not just a home or office, but a new way of life. By combining the two, he found himself more creatively inspired. The best ideas come at night, and I can walk into my living room and put them into practice, he says.

Sebastian Zuchowickis home demonstrates his expertise as a designer, but also his deep understanding of lifestyle. Here, the warmth of home and the energy of work are subtly blended, and the design languages of history and modernity speak to each other. This is a story about redefining home, but also a profound reflection on space and life.
