Text description provided by the architects. Inhabiting the horizon. This house, located on a ranch north of Punta del Este in the Eastern Republic of Uruguay, is positioned as an object restingin the landscape.
Without hiding its physiognomy, it seeks to be the most systemic companion for a bucolic and horizontal landscape. The gabled roof recognizes the typical image of a house, but its longitudinal arrangement redefines this concept. Conceived as a large roof, the program is organized axially within.
A large central space concentrates the public area, with the bedrooms to the right and the services to the left. A large horizontal window runs the entire length of the back, connectingeach space with the horizon.
In terms of construction, the house maintains its idea of being as simple and unobtrusive on the territory as possible. A system of punctual supports sustains a series of consecutive and modulated portals that support the roof and enclosure structure. These elements develop in absolute continuity, enveloping the skeleton and creating a large horizontal opening to the rear.
