Istanbul-based design studio Geo ID has transformed a former gym space into ClubHouse, a sophisticated members club that nods to 1950s mid-century style. The 1,000-square-metre space showcases a marriage of materials—polished oak walls, exposed concrete ceilings, and techno-cement floors—coming together to create an atmosphere that’s both nostalgic and modern.
The journey through ClubHouse begins with a descent to an intimate welcome desk, leading members through a thoughtfully planned spatial sequence. The gym area, accessible via a card system, connects to luxuriously appointed changing rooms where black and white ceramic tiles play against oak timber lockers.
Beyond its function as a high-end gym, ClubHouse serves as a dynamic venue for temporary exhibitions, workshops, and social gatherings. The clever design features walls that are partially oak-covered and partially painted, doubling as projection screens or art display surfaces without ever appearing bare.
The heart of the space reveals two striking green marble bars – one concealing a fully equipped kitchen for food workshops, the other serving traditional bar functions. Between them, a generously proportioned table adapts to various needs, from dining to workshops. The adjacent Listening Room houses an impressive record collection displayed on a gridded shelf system, complete with a DJ setup for events.
The lounge area seamlessly transitions to an outdoor terrace through glass folding separators. This design element creates a fluid indoor-outdoor connection, maximising views while providing flexible spaces for working, dining, or socialising.
“We focused on creating unique narratives that revolutionise all aspects of design,” shares Tuğçe Rizeli, Co-Founder of Geo ID. The studio’s approach puts human experience at the centre, resulting in a space that feels both sophisticated and welcoming.
