In a time where authenticity often feels like a marketing buzzword, Hagen’s Organics—the family-owned Victorian institution—is serving up something genuine at their newest East Brunswick Village (EBV) location. Siblings Oliver and Ruby Hagen commissioned interior designer Holly White to translate their commitment to organic and regenerative meats into a thoughtful retail environment that mirrors their artisanal offerings.

White’s design approach strips back unnecessary elements to let the real stars—the exceptional produce—take cantre stage. Drawing inspiration from agricultural heritage, galvanized sheet metal wraps the deli cabinets in a brilliant stroke that both modernizes the space and pays homage to the brand’s farming connections. It’s this kind of considered detail that makes us particularly excited.

Two-toned cream tiles climb the walls with architectural precision, creating a clean canvas that’s anything but clinical. The addition of blackbutt timber shelving and a magnificently versatile butcher’s display table brings an honest warmth to the space—and we’re particularly fond of how this piece doubles as a teaching station for butchery classes.

This design will shape the future of Hagen’s retail presence. The EBV location is White’s prototype for a cohesive brand identity that will roll out across their entire network. And with new offerings like rotisserie chicken and gourmet hot dogs, they’re proving that evolution doesn’t mean abandoning your roots.

This thoughtful balance of functionality, heritage, and forward-thinking design creates an environment that feels both fresh and familiar. Through White’s considered approach, the space understands its purpose: to showcase quality while building community, one carefully considered detail at a time.
