For the new interior design project conceived for ADDITIVE’s headquarters in Bolzano, NOA has developed a concept inspired by spatial exploration, reinterpreting the workplace in an unexpected way. The environment invites employees to move freely, fostering continuous discovery and revealing surprising scenarios at every step.

The workspace must become a strong asset in the recruitment process—this was one of the key requests when ADDITIVE entrusted NOA, in 2023, with designing the interior of its new headquarters in Bolzano. The design team worked with a raw space of approximately 850 m², located on the third floor of a building in the trade fair district, just a short distance from NOA’s own headquarters.

From the very beginning, dialogue with ADDITIVE’s two founders was crucial to fully understanding the company’s values, the nature of its services, and the functional priorities required. ADDITIVE supports over 450 international clients in the hospitality sector with marketing automation software and data-driven online marketing strategies, bringing together a multidisciplinary team of marketers, software developers, media designers, copywriters, sales managers, and more. The goal of the project was to capture the needs of this diverse group of professionals and create spaces that cater to their daily activities, rather than those of visiting clients, most of whom interact with the company remotely—fully aligned with ADDITIVE’s digital nature.

“Designing a headquarters that is not meant for external representation but conceived 100% for those who work there was an exciting shift in perspective. The concept and functional program reflect precisely this approach, telling the story of a company that is digital, agile, and smart,”explains Mara Jungmann, interior designer.

Galaxy of Spaces
NOA has transformed the large open space into a sequence of boxes of different sizes, colours, and functions, which appear to float like strings of code in a digital flow, intermittently connecting to the walls, floor, and ceiling. These structures allude to the software developed by ADDITIVE—highly customizable products capable of ‘docking’ with different clients and contexts.

The idea of the internal boxes allowed us to layer multiple meanings: the empty macro-container transforms into a navigable labyrinth that enables freedom of movement while maintaining a sense of continuous discovery. Depending on their configuration, the boxes can conceal, highlight, or alter spaces,”adds Jungmann.

Communal Space
The core of the design is the communal space, a transversal area stretching from east to west, also characterized by multifunctional boxes that are either suspended or anchored to the walls and ceiling. At its centre lies the reception desk—a minimalist counter made of perforated, backlit metal, where ADDITIVE’s partially concealed logo symbolizes the primacy of the product over the brand. Opposite it, a custom wall with employees’ personal lockers creates an intriguing layout of interlocking elements, thanks to doors of varying sizes and opening directions.

The communal space unfolds through a sequence of open and enclosed niches, private and public areas, transforming the office into a dynamic landscape offering meeting points, relaxation corners, eating spaces, phone booths, a coffee zone, and tiered seating for social gatherings. Exposed cables and ceiling-mounted systems emphasize the project’s tech-driven and dynamic aesthetic. On the southwest side, a 70 m² indoor garden houses a kitchen, tables, and lounge chairs, creating a welcoming space for lunch breaks. This area can be separated from the rest of the office with a movable glass partition, offering flexible use.

Materials and Colors
The predominant colour of the project is blue, presented in various desaturated shades and paired with beige tones to create refined contrasts— a palette inspired by ADDITIVE’s corporate identity.

“We wanted to enhance each space with distinctive materials while maintaining an aesthetic consistent with the digital world: solid, tech-driven, and rational. This led to the use of ceramic tiles arranged like digital bits, mirrors, perforated metal, and structured glass,”explains Niccolò Panzani.

Lighting plays a fundamental role in the project: to ensure maximum comfort, each workstation is equipped with an independent lamp that adapts to different work needs. In the communal space, LED strips not only illuminate pathways but also use light codes to signal the team’s completed achievements, giving light a symbolic value. Similarly, numerous screens distributed throughout the office provide a continuous flow of updated information about ADDITIVE, accessible to all employees. Numerous potted plants add warmth and well-being to the atmosphere. The headquarters accommodate 70 workstations, equipped with height-adjustable desks, spread across seven workspaces and four meeting rooms.

“With ADDITIVE, we started from an empty box and transformed it into a galaxy of opportunities. Each team member can feel like a protagonist, freely choosing their place within this flexible architecture,”concludes Mara Jungmann.
