Intro

We all are eager to encounter something much greater than ourselves, much greater than the limits of our ownunderstanding. It makes our existence meaningful; it adds value to our lives. Every time we start a new project, we transferinto a world where goal setting and understanding are not always crystal clear. We find ourselves in the state ofexperimental search, structuring an idea from fragments, filling it with content.

Dubai is famous for its ultra-modern urban skylines with glittering rows of skyscrapers, and this is undoubtedly acaptivating experience. The majestic towers are hiding the incomprehensible beauty and abundance of nature in its most deprived state – the desert – with an uninterrupted view of deep biscuit-colored dunes stretching for miles. Sitting onthe edge of the desert, we have the opportunity to watch the wind lifting and sifting the sand, grain by grain,reconsidering what shape it wants to take. There is no other place on Earth where the time flow is so clearly felt: itdissolves, as if slowing down, into the monumental silhouettes of waves. Admiring the swaying dunes, one comes tounderstand that the local landscape is not only a physical entity but also a play of sunlight and moonlight, shifting the boundaries of imagination. Both light and time change the perception of the endless landscape. Moving slowly in thedaytime, the desert at night turns into a frozen ocean, illuminated only by the light of the floating moon. It’s wonderful to imagine that everything is going to repeat the next day, yet never again will we observe the desert as it was before, because,being in a barely noticeable state of flow, it leaves no chance for that.

为了探索沙漠作为文化交流和对话场所的理念，我们提出了有机空间的概念，吸收了自然、传统和手工艺的主题。房间光滑的椭圆形轮廓类似于自古以来人们在气候炎热的沙漠地区雕刻的建筑。建筑元素和结构的流动性指的是由风和时间本身雕刻而成的自然形态。滑过它们的光线形成奇异的阴影，消退到空间的深处。沙漠作为一种难以捉摸的不断变化的物质，其形象在墙面饰面中得到了反映和印证。矿物灰泥的原色和光滑色都接近沙子的自然色。

Exploring the idea of the desert as a place of cultural interaction and dialogue, we came up with the concept of an organicspace, absorbing the motifs of nature, tradition, and craftsmanship. The smooth oval contours of the rooms resemblethe structures that people have been carving in desert lands with hot climates since ancient times. The fluidity of architectural elements and structures refers to natural forms carved by wind and time itself. The light sliding over themgathers whimsical shadows that recede into the depth of space. The image of the desert as an elusive everchangingmatter is reflected and imprinted in the wall finish. The palette of mineral plaster, both in raw and smooth finishes, is close to the natural color of sand.

不仅哈利法塔顶峰的景观引人入胜，而且新项目所处的位置也让人联想到如何打造内部结构。从主入口所在的全景玻璃窗向内移动时，其分层划分占据了主导地位。第一层的空间在功能上由不同类型的石灰岩石块划分，这些石块在视觉上的自由排列组织了接待区和两个酒吧区。石块的形状有光滑的和粗糙的两种，粗糙的石块是模仿天然石材凹凸不平的表面，使石块呈现出一种令人愉悦的自我加工的外观，就像一条反映人类工艺的丝线。主厅分为两层，隐藏在雕塑墙后面的私人区域和通往辅助技术室的隧道。要进入二层的隐秘空间，需要沿着墙壁的弧线爬上楼梯。上层提供了休闲的休息空间：鸡尾酒石桌、低调的暖色灯光、平台上柔软的围边沙发，在视觉上从墙壁的体积中生长出来。通过一个仿佛雕刻在岩石上的开口，露台的广阔视野豁然开朗。

Not only the intriguing view opening to the peak of Burj Khalifa, but also the location of the new project, which is in a nicheof the building, as if in an alcove, suggested the idea of how the internal structure should be created. Its tiered divisiondominates as one moves inward from the panoramic glazing, where the main entrance is located. The space of the first levelis functionally divided by stone blocks of different types of travertine, the free visual arrangement of which organizes thehospitality zone and the area of two bars. The stone forms are created in smooth and rough processing, the latter mimickingthe natural uneven surface of the stone, which gives the objects a pleasant self-finished appearance, like a thread reflecting human craftsmanship. The main hall branches out into private areas on two levels, hidden behind sculptural walls, andtunnels leading to auxiliary technical rooms. To get to the second level, to a secluded space, one needs to climb the stairsgoing up, following the curve of the wall. The upper level offers relaxed lounging: cocktail stone tables, subdued warm light,and a soft perimeter sofa on a podium, visually growing out of the volume of the walls. Through a sculptural opening, as ifit were carved in the body of a rock, an extensive view of the terrace opens up.

Decoration

亮点和装饰性照明是设计理念的延伸。它与大气节奏相协调，通过开口流向空间的每个角落。夜幕降临时，月亮出现在空间中，这是由达维德-格罗皮（Davide Groppi）小组制作的同名灯具。它的光芒就像地球的卫星一样笼罩着室内空间，使其慢慢沉浸在夜间的摇篮中。但这并不意味着店内生活的停止：在这段时间里，客人们可以尽情享受最舒适惬意的氛围和清爽的鸡尾酒。家具材料的色调方案被定位为整体色彩空间的一部分：奶油色的bouclé、沙色的石英石、天然的橡木饰面和蜜色的石灰石在室内景观环境中有机地相互作用。由 Miniforms 制作的玻璃桌刷新了沙色的色调；自然光穿过玻璃桌，使其从内部发光，变成了装满透明水的容器。

Highlights and decorative lighting are created as an extension of the conceptual idea. It is tuned to an atmospheric rhythmthat flows through openings into every corner of the space. As evening falls, the Moon appears in the space, that is a lightfixture with the same name created by the Davide Groppi group. Its light envelops the interior like the Earth’s satellite,slowly immersing it in a nocturnal cradle. But this doesn’t mean that life in the establishment stops: during this time, the guests are invited to enjoy the most comfortable, cozy atmosphere and refreshing cocktails. The tonal solution offurniture materials is positioned as part of a holistic color space: creamy bouclé, sandy quartz stone, natural oak veneer,and honey travertine interact organically in the landscape interior environment. Glass tables made by Miniforms refresh the sandy palette; natural light passing through them, makes them glow from the inside, changing them into vessels filled with transparent water.

白天，入口前的露台是一片绿洲，绿树成荫，为客人遮挡烈日。夜幕降临，全景玻璃逐渐溶解，室内和露台融为一体，一个自然绿色环境中的雕塑景观结构展现在我们面前。

During the day, the terrace in front of the entrance refers to an oasis filled with greenery, which creates a desired shadecurtain to protect the guests from the scorching sun. Nightfall makes the panoramic glazing gradually dissolve, while the interior and terrace unite into one single space, and now a sculptural landscape structure in a natural green environment opens up before us.

Observing the lunar landscape among the dunes is one of the most impressive sights to see. If you listen closely, you canhear the time flowing in the moving grains of endless waves and feel its breath. The HPlace space has borrowed much from the desert, combining the expressiveness of the local language of nature, culture, and architectural plasticity.
