“Infinity”: An Artistic Expression Connecting Tradition and the Future

《无极》是为杭州阿里巴巴全球总部核心大堂量身打造的大型室内公共艺术作品。阿里巴巴杭州全球总部于2024年5月10日正式启用，选址于杭州未来科技城文西路以北、高教路以东，与人们熟悉的“淘宝城”阿里西溪A区南北相望。作为阿里巴巴全球化布局的重要节点，这里不仅是企业展示国际化实力的窗口，更是承载企业文化与品牌精神的象征性空间。

“Infinity ” Video, artist: Li Ling

Infinity is a large-scale indoor public art installation specially designed for the main lobby of Alibaba’s Global Headquarters in Hangzhou. Officially inaugurated on May 10, 2024, Alibaba’s Global Headquarters is located north of Wenxi Road and east of Gaojiao Road in Hangzhou Future Science and Technology City, facing the well-known “Taobao City” (Alibaba Xixi Campus Area A) across its southern border. As a critical node in Alibaba’s global strategy, this location not only serves as a window showcasing the company’s international presence but also embodies the cultural and brand spirit of the enterprise in a symbolic space.

公共艺术作品作为总部大堂的重要组成部分，肩负着与建筑空间相辅相成、彰显企业文化价值的使命。如何在这个兼具全球视野与地方特色的场域中实现艺术创作的突破，是《无极》项目立项之初的重要课题。

As an integral part of the headquarters’ main lobby, the public art installation plays a vital role in complementing the architectural space while highlighting the company’s cultural values. From the project’s inception, a key challenge has been how to achieve artistic innovation within this context—a space that balances a global perspective with distinct regional characteristics.

选题初衷：文化与时代的交汇

Inspiration: A meeting of cultures and times

阿里巴巴作为全球领先的科技企业，始终关注未来科技的开拓，同时深耕于杭州这片孕育了千年文化的土地。为了兼顾国际性、当代性与本土化文化表达，《无极》从东方传统文化的核心符号“书法”出发，通过艺术形式的创新与空间布局的融合，赋予书法这一经典文化元素全新的当代意义。

As a global leader in technology, Alibaba has always focused on pioneering future technologies while deeply rooted in Hangzhou, a land rich with thousands of years of culture. In order to balance international appeal, contemporary relevance, and local cultural expression, “Infinity “draws from the core symbol of Eastern traditional culture—calligraphy. Through innovative artistic forms and the integration of spatial design, it gives this classic cultural element a fresh contemporary meaning.

创作理念：笔触间的无限可能

Creative Concept: Infinite Possibilities in Every Stroke

作品《无极》的核心意象是凝聚的力量，像一笔气贯长虹，既展现了书法中的动势之美，又象征阿里巴巴以开放包容的姿态构建数字经济生态。这一笔勾画出太极的轮廓，寓意宇宙万物的起源与流转，也象征着从有限到无限的生长，传递出阿里巴巴的企业精神与对未来的展望。

The core imagery of the artwork “Infinity ” is a converging force, expressed through a sweeping stroke that flows like a rainbow. This stroke not only embodies the dynamic beauty of calligraphy but also symbolizes Alibaba’s open and inclusive approach to building a digital economy ecosystem. It outlines the shape of Tai Chi, representing the origin and circulation of all things in the universe, while also symbolizing the journey from the finite to the infinite. This conveys Alibaba’s corporate spirit and its limitless vision for the future.

书法作为中华文化的瑰宝，不仅是一种艺术形式，更蕴含深刻的哲学和宇宙观。它的九势讲求“书肇于自然”，从自然中汲取力量，展现出流动的美感和内在张力。这一朴素的哲思与阿里巴巴追求“科技向善”、构建数字生态系统的愿景相契合。

Calligraphy, a precious treasure of Chinese culture, is more than just an art form; it carries deep philosophical and cosmological meaning. Its nine principles emphasize that “calligraphy originates from nature,” drawing strength from the natural world to create a sense of fluid beauty and inner tension. This simple yet profound philosophy resonates with Alibaba’s commitment to “technology for good” and its vision of building a digital ecosystem.

技术与艺术的深度融合

Deep Integration of Technology and Art

作品的结构采用多层镂空叠加起伏的形式，这种设计既呈现出山水叠嶂的意象，又映射出数字经济时代包罗万象、生态交融的特质。镂空的透明感使得整个装置在光影的互动下产生虚实交叠的效果，增强了观赏的层次感与艺术的张力。

The structure of the artwork adopts a multi-layered, hollowed-out, and undulating form. This design not only evokes the imagery of layered mountains and rivers but also reflects the all-encompassing, interconnected qualities of the digital economy era. The transparency of the hollowed-out elements creates an effect of overlapping reality and illusion as the installation interacts with light and shadow, enhancing both the sense of depth in the viewing experience and the artistic tension of the piece.

此外，光影效果的运用为作品增添了独特的魅力。自然光照射下，镂空层叠的结构在空间中投射出丰富的光影变化，营造出虚实交错的视觉效果。这种设计不仅让人联想到书法中的留白之美，还为作品注入了更多的互动性与观赏性。

In addition, the use of light and shadow effects adds a unique charm to the artwork. Under natural light, the layered hollow structure casts rich variations of light and shadow, creating a visual effect of overlapping reality and illusion. This design not only evokes the beauty of the empty spaces in calligraphy but also injects more interactivity and visual appeal into the piece.

《绽放》：融生态与艺术，汇科技与人文

“Blossom”: Merging Ecology with Art, Integrating Technology with Humanities

《绽放》是专为阿里巴巴上海总部设计的公共艺术装置。阿里巴巴上海总部于2024年9月4日正式启用，位于上海市徐汇滨江地区。这座总部聚合了淘宝、天猫、阿里云等核心业务单元，是阿里巴巴推动数字经济发展的重要创新基地。项目整体以前卫设计与绿色生态理念为指导，设有露台和丰富绿化，构建了一个融合艺术与科技的智慧园区，致力于打造互联网创新生态圈。

Blossom is a public art installation specifically designed for Alibaba’s Shanghai Headquarters. Officially opened on September 4, 2024, the headquarters is located in the Xuhui Riverside area of Shanghai. This headquarters houses core business units such as Taobao, Tmall, and Alibaba Cloud, serving as an important innovation hub for Alibaba in driving the development of the digital economy.The project is guided by a forward-thinking design and green ecological principles, featuring a terrace and abundant greenery, creating an intelligent campus that seamlessly blends art and technology. It aims to establish an innovative ecosystem for the internet industry, fostering a space for the growth of digital creativity and collaboration.

创作主题：生态共生，仿生美学

Creative Theme: Ecological Symbiosis, Biomimetic Aesthetics

为了契合园区“生态”与“仿生”的核心理念，艺术装置以上海市花“白玉兰”为创作题材，通过艺术语言连接园区与城市、企业与环境的关系。白玉兰的花语象征着高尚、纯洁与感恩，同时也代表开路先锋与奋发向上的精神。

In alignment with the park’s core themes of “ecology” and “biomimicry,” the art installation takes Shanghai’s city flower, the White Magnolia, as its creative subject. Through artistic language, it bridges the relationship between the park and the city, as well as between the enterprise and the environment. The symbolism of the White Magnolia represents nobility, purity, and gratitude, while also embodying the pioneering spirit and a drive for progress.

设计灵感：动静之间的生命力

Design Inspiration: The Vitality Between Movement and Stillness

正面看，《绽放》呈现出白玉兰花朵绽放的姿态，采用传统花艺美学构图，展现自然动静结合的力量，象征生命的蓬勃与永恒。

From the front, Bloom showcases the posture of a White Magnolia in full bloom, following the composition of traditional floral aesthetics. It embodies the power of the dynamic interplay between movement and stillness, symbolizing the vitality and eternity of life.

侧面则通过流动线条、叶片和花瓣的抽象组合，形成一个爱心形状，增强了艺术装置与环境的视觉对话，并在情感层面拉近人与空间的共鸣，体现了阿里巴巴以人为本的企业文化与园区理念。

From the side, the flowing lines, abstractly combined with the leaves and petals, form a subtle heart shape, enhancing the visual dialogue between the artwork and its surroundings. This emotional connection brings people closer to the space, reflecting Alibaba’s human-centered corporate culture and the park’s core philosophy.

材料与工艺：艺术与功能的平衡

Materials and Craftsmanship: Balancing Art and Function

考虑到上海滨海城市的特殊气候，装置主体采用高强度、耐腐蚀的不锈钢材料，以确保其在沿海环境中的长期稳定性。同时，针对台风等极端天气，设计团队在叶片部分引入镂空处理，减少风压对结构的影响。

Considering the unique climate conditions of Shanghai as a coastal city, the main structure of the installation is made from high-strength, corrosion-resistant stainless steel to ensure long-term stability in the coastal environment. Additionally, to address extreme weather conditions such as typhoons, the design team incorporated a hollowed-out treatment in the leaf sections, reducing the impact of wind pressure on the structure.

对于非镂空的花瓣部分，我们采用内嵌式双曲面包裹工艺，将骨架巧妙隐藏在花瓣内部，既保证了视觉上的轻盈感，又确保了结构的安全与稳固。

For the non-hollowed petals, we used an embedded double-curved wrapping technique, cleverly concealing the supporting framework inside the petals. This approach not only ensures a visually lightweight appearance but also guarantees the structural safety and stability.

《绽放》不仅是一件与环境和谐共生的艺术装置，更是企业文化与城市文化融合的创新办公空间。它的存在，不仅美化了园区，激发了员工与访客对生态与生命之美的深刻感悟，还成为上海这座城市人与自然共生理念的艺术地标。

Bloom is not only an art installation in harmonious coexistence with its environment but also an innovative office space that combines corporate culture with urban culture. Its presence not only beautifies the park but also inspires employees and visitors to deeply appreciate the beauty of ecology and life, becoming an artistic landmark of Shanghai’s philosophy of human-nature coexistence.
