 " Technology offers a helping hand in the world of passive design, enabling us to harvest the surrounding environment for a sustainable future. " The elderly age; the period of declines in sensory, cognitive, mobility, and physical functions; affect the elderlies’ health and productiveness, causing limitations to their daily lifestyle. At the age of globalization and declining resources, the surrounding environment offers minimal help in sustaining the elderlies’ declining functions. Lighting and ventilation system with embedded technology functionsas a media to create a mutually ‘healing’ space between the user and environment; shaping a healthy, ‘barrier-free’, and energy efficient lifestyle to opti- mize the elderly’s function recovery process. Automatically in their healing process, the elderlies take part in mending the environment, creating a “Cycle of Nurture”.
