OBJECTIVE: To create a community/ wellness/ healthcare center for the recent immigrant populations in South Philadelphia. The site was located at 1601 S. Broad Street in an existing two-storey plus basement commercial building that currently serves as a business office for Philadelphia Gas Works.

CONCEPT: After thorough research on the diverse immigrant populations present in South Philadelphia and their existing public spaces, I designed a solution based on the vibrant colors that can be observed in these studies and created a space which resonates with each culture individually while also connecting them together.
SPECIAL CONSIDERATIONS: Emphasis was placed on sustainable strategies. Specifically giving daylight and fresh air to public spaces. This was achieved through a large opening in the main level, which opens the basement up to the main level. Rectangular openings in te walls bring light and views to the interior spaces while still creating separation and maintaining privacy.
