Founded by Rawin Kanathananon, Truffle Originals is a Thai apparel brand that blends urban outdoor fashion with Japanese-inspired designs and sewing techniques. The Bangkok-based brand recently aligned its existing retail space in the city’s Watthana district with its merchandise by way of a major revamp executed by local architecture practice Studio Nomatter. Situated on the first floor of a modern low-rise structure, the retail space is clean and understated which aims to exude an ethos of calm and craftsmanship, captured by a palette of natural materials and a distinct interplay of raw and sleek surfaces. Furnishings comprise a brick-and-timber sales counter with an attached display cabinet, matching displays, clothing racks and shelving units, offset by a backdrop of off-whites and warm greys. All furnishings are largely crafted from light timber and brushed stainless steel.
Warm wood tones, used strategically across the premises for various shelving, partition structures, and also custom displays, add optical depth to the setting. The seemingly floating shelves and clean-lined display units create a sense of openness, which is further reinforced by a number of large windows on two sides of the retail space, which allow in floods of natural light. Additionally, sleek suspended track light fixtures not only add to the linear design aesthetic, but also the minutely calibrated balance of the chosen aesthetic. Mind you, some of the clothing racks are similarly suspended from the ceiling. The renewed Truffle Originals store carries the full range of the brand’s men’s and women’s apparel and accessories, in addition to curated range of apparel, shoes, and bags by other brands. © superfuture
