当最后一块石材回归仓库时,我们完成的不仅是一次展览,更是对设计伦理的一次定义。真正的策展逻辑闭环,应贯穿从材料选择到空间叙事,再到废料处理的全生命周期。
When the last stone is returned to the warehouse, what we have accomplished is not only an exhibition. It is a definition of design ethics. A true curatorial logic should run through the whole life cycle, from material selection to spatial narrative, to the disposal of waste.

去年受邀参加于新加坡举行的WAF世界建筑节,这座花园城市的展会现场颠覆了我对传统会展的认知——所有展馆均采用模块化气膜结构,可循环使用率达100%;建筑废料回收系统贯穿全程,七天展会期间未产生任何不可降解垃圾。我深切感受到:可持续设计不是选择题,而是当代展陈空间的必答题。
Last year, I was invited to participate in the WAF World Architecture Festival in Singapore, and the exhibition site in this garden city overturned my perception of traditional exhibitions – all pavilions used modular air membrane structures, with a 100% recycling rate; the construction waste recycling system ran through the whole process, and no non-degradable rubbish was produced during the seven days of the exhibition. I deeply felt: Sustainable design is not a multiple-choice question, but a must-answer question for contemporary exhibition space.

反观国内建材展会生态,数字触目惊心:某权威机构调研显示,仅北上广三地会展中心年均产生建筑垃圾达18万吨,相当于50栋30层高楼拆除量。
今年共生形态受邀参与”厦门国际人居空间设计展”策展,成为我们践行的可持续理念的”共生”实验场。在这方53平米的微型展厅里,团队构建了完整的资源闭环系统:
1.材料再生体系:选用榫卯木构与可降解杜邦纸搭建主体结构,所有石材展品均可封装回收,实现零损耗拆装;
2.废料价值重构:将石材切割边角料打磨成”星石”系列文创夜灯,提升废材转化率;
3.生态叙事语言:以”消失的森林”为主题,通过光影装置演绎”只此青绿”这款天然石材的自然肌理,唤醒观众对矿产资源的珍视。
Looking back at the ecology of domestic building materials exhibition, the figures are alarming:
According to the research of an authoritative institution, the annual average amount of construction waste generated by the convention and exhibition centres in North, Shanghai and Guangzhou is 180,000 tons, which is equivalent to the amount of demolition of 50 30-storey buildings.
This year, Symbiosis was invited to curate the Xiamen International Habitat Design Exhibition, becoming a ‘symbiotic’ experimental site for our sustainable concept. In this 53 square metre miniature exhibition hall, the team has built a complete closed-loop resource system:
1. Material regeneration system: the main structure is made of mortise-and-tenon wooden structures and biodegradable DuPont paper, and all stone exhibits can be encapsulated and recycled, so that they can be dismantled and assembled with zero loss;
2. Value reconstruction of waste materials: stone cutting trimmings are polished into the ‘Star Stone’ series of cultural and creative night lights, which improves the conversion rate of waste materials;
3. Ecological narrative language: with the theme of ‘disappearing forests’, the natural texture of the natural stone ‘only this green’ is interpreted through light and shadow devices, awakening the audience to the value of mineral resources.

材料再生体系
榫卯木构与可降解材料零损耗应用
为了直观的展现本届展会的涌动组的主题,我们运用了动态,营造出充满活力和能量的空间氛围。首创”快递式展厅”:500+预制构件现场拼装,展会结束即”拆快递”回收。通过将可降解杜邦纸融入展厅的构建材料中,我们不仅实现了展厅的快速搭建与拆卸,还确保了整个过程的可持续性,体现了对环境保护的重视。
In order to visually show the theme of the exhibition, we used dynamics to create a vibrant and energetic spatial atmosphere. The first ‘express showroom’: 500+ prefabricated components are assembled on-site and recycled at the end of the show. By incorporating biodegradable DuPont paper into the construction materials of the exhibition hall, we not only realised the rapid erection and dismantling of the exhibition hall, but also ensured the sustainability of the whole process, reflecting the importance of environmental protection.

然而,设计的意义不应止步于视觉的震撼,更应引发深层次的思考。在这个注重可持续发展的时代,设计如何平衡美学与环保?如何通过互动体验让观众意识到资源的有限性?这些问题值得我们深入探讨。
However, the significance of design should not stop at visual impact, but should also trigger deeper thinking. In this era of sustainable development, how can design balance aesthetics and environmental protection? How to make the audience aware of the finite nature of resources through interactive experiences? These questions are worth exploring in depth.

废料价值重构
石材边角料变身“星石”文创夜灯
在石材的运用上,我们赋予了它新的设计语言和功能。除了传统的石材大板展示,还创新性地制作了石材小夜灯等衍生品,并设计了一个类似古代“编钟”的石材构造物,结合音响效果,创造出独特的艺术氛围。
In the use of stone, we have given it a new design language and function. In addition to the traditional display of stone slabs, we have also innovatively created derivatives such as stone night lights, and designed a stone structure similar to the ancient ‘chimes’, combined with sound effects to create a unique artistic atmosphere.

设计的真正价值在于连接与对话,而非单纯的创新或传承。石材的坚硬与设计的灵动相结合,传统与现代、自然与人文在设计中交织。当石材的自然纹理与现代工艺相遇,我们正在重新定义它在当代生活中的价值。这些思考不仅贯穿于我们的设计实践中,也为我们未来的设计探索提供了方向。
The true value of design lies in connection and dialogue, not mere innovation or inheritance. The hardness of stone is combined with the spirit of design, and tradition and modernity, nature and humanity are intertwined in the design. When the natural texture of stone meets modern craftsmanship, we are redefining its value in contemporary life. These reflections not only permeate our design practice, but also provide direction for our future design exploration.

生态叙事语言
“消失的森林”主题下的矿产资源珍视唤醒
在互动体验方面,展厅中间设置了一个艺术装置“消失的矿山”,由石材小夜灯堆成。观众可以像“淘金者”一样拿取小夜灯,随着小夜灯的减少,“矿山”逐渐消失,引发观众对自然环境资源思考。
In terms of interactive experience, an art installation ‘Vanishing Mine’ is set up in the middle of the exhibition hall, which is made up of stone nightlights. Visitors can take the nightlights like ‘gold diggers’, and as the nightlights decrease, the ‘mine’ gradually disappears, triggering the audience to think about the natural environment and resources.

这是一场关于人与自然关系的深刻对话,每位观众都是“环境修复者”。通过创新的设计语言和互动体验,让观众在欣赏石材之美的同时,深刻感受到可持续发展的重要性。每一个设计细节,都在诉说着我们对自然的敬畏与珍视;每一次互动体验,都在唤醒人们内心深处的环保意识。
This is a profound dialogue about the relationship between man and nature, and each audience is an ‘environmental restorer’. Through the innovative design language and interactive experience, the audience can appreciate the beauty of stone while deeply feeling the importance of sustainable development. Every detail of the design speaks of our reverence for and appreciation of nature; every interactive experience awakens people’s innermost awareness of environmental protection.

诚然,每一次设计活动都无法做到绝对环保,甚至人类的任何活动本身就不环保,但设计师依然可以凭借他们的热忱、理性和责任心去平衡人与自然的关系,达到”共生”,正如展厅主材”只此青绿”的自然纹理所昭示的:每个设计决策都在书写人与自然的契约。一并感谢品杭奢石、铂刻照明、领路营销和所有参与的同事们。
It is true that every design activity can not be absolutely environmentally friendly, and even any human activity itself is not environmentally friendly, but the designers can still rely on their enthusiasm, rationality and responsibility to balance the relationship between man and nature, to achieve ‘symbiosis’, just as the natural texture of the main material ‘only this green’ in the showroom shows: every design decision is writing a contract between man and nature.
