Contemporary holiday home Unblocked, located on the western side of the island of Tinos, Greece, features a design by Studio Kontodimas. This 250-square-meter (2,690-square-foot) house was designed to blend with the landscape, drawing inspiration from local architecture and using earthy materials and a sand-color palette both indoors and outdoors. The villa boasts generous views of the Aegean Sea, enhanced by masonry block claustra screens.

The stunning views of the Aegean Sea are filtered through masonry block claustra screens, which provide sunlight protection and natural ventilation. The use of natural materials – plastered walls, chestnut wood cabinetry, cane pergolas, cement screed floors, and travertine verandas make a soft and cool ambience, while using the same sand-color palette indoors and outdoors. The kitchen and the master bath have been paved with green Tinos marble, also used to make the massive dining table. Furniture was designed and purpose-made by Studiokontodimas.

The villa features a spacious indoor living area with food preparation facilities, various guest rooms, and a large swimming pool. Building volumes are organized in a cluster that feels like a cozy neighborhood on a Greek island.

Wrapped Around Olive Trees, Unblocked Reflects Locals Architecture In Tínos

Circulation corridors were treated as outdoor spaces (and therefore were not counted in the allowable floor area). The property along its eastern side borders on an old donkey path that still leads to the seafront. The existing rocks were left intact while old olive trees were carefully preserved, and new ones were transported and planted on the site. Every effort was made not to disturb the rugged beauty and tranquility of the natural setting.

The house, initially intended for the designer himself, was an instant coup de foudre for the present owner, who required no significant modifications to the original design.
