EXHIBIT SPACE DESIGNMy assignment was to work on a space of mass transit and design an exhibit space.Site: MG road Boulevard, BangaloreChosen area: 3000 sq.ft.Constructed area: 1500 sq.ft.The chosen site is a horizontal long patch with gallery spaces, play area and cafes. The opposite side of the road is occupied by tall concrete commercial centers. Thus the site is surrounded by a constant buzz of noises and concrete structures. This is completely contradictory to how the old MG road used to be; full of greenery, boulevards and bougainvilleas. My idea was to bring back those boulevards and greenery and create a space that will strike the people's attention when they pass through the area. I also focused on breaking the pattern of horizontal movement and thus created a gradual vertically upwards movement. My intention was to focus on the intutive movement of the public, hence when they are spirally climbing up they go through the exhibit space. Before starting with my ideations I did a case study on two museum spaces; Denver Museum, Denmark and Danish National Maritime Museum. Apart from these I went through many exhibit pavilions and museums like Guggenheim.

MASTER PLAN (01)The exhibit space is five cube like structures made out of glass and covered with bamboos from the outside. These structures individually are pivoted with a center pole and connected to each other with spiral staircase. All the structure gradually increase in height by 0.9 m. A ramp is provided as an alternative exit and entry point. The structures is defined by the boundary created by stones and tall grasses. The cubical structure dimensions are 2.6 X 2.6 X 2.6 m. The ramp lands on this elevated grass patch which is 2m above the ground upto a certain length and then connects with ground level. Hence allowing the flow in multidirections. These structures also intend to give a treehouse like feeling to break away from concrete surroundings.
