It’s a workspace, concept shop, café and gallery rolled into one that has given Ljubljana a promising new creative hub. We’re talking .raw, an initiative of Rob Svenšek and Tamir Potokar, two designers based in the Slovenian capital. The duo have secured a spacious unit on the premises of a modern nine-storey office building, and features an interior design of their own. Taking ample cues from Brutalism, .raw sees a series of monochrome settings defined by exposed concrete ceilings and floors, sleek metal pillars, and chunks of marble serving as displays and counters. A variety of additional furnishings include communal tables, office chairs and comfy sofas in the workspace, while the café features a concrete bench, logs as side tables and a metal-clad cabinet with matching shelving. The concept shop, aptly called .store, is combined with a gallery space.

Open and airy, it’s flanked on two sides by large windows which allow in floods of daylight. Taking centre stage is a cluster of marble displays which tie in with two other large chunks on the side, serving as a counter and side table. A steel chair with draped cushioning offers shoppers the opportunity to sit back while being served complimentary coffee. Currently, the shop stocks a concise yet varied product range by brands such as Parachilna, Mario Tsai Studio, Db, and equality, in addition to .raw‘s very own product range. In line with Ljubljana‘s increasing stature as a design-forward city, Svenšek and Potokar aim to establish a new and interactive hub where creativity can be further explored, seen, experienced by both professionals and aficionados.
