Open Source House Pilot

A pilot housing design for low income communities.
Open Source House has the aim to start a viable social business to provide affordable housing through sustainable design for low income countries. The project started with a design competition in which more than 3100 young architects from 45 different countries send in their
250 designs
. All designs are shared online. The goal of the competition was to design an affordable, flexible and sustainable house.
Pilot house
OS-House aims to provide houses for those who cannot afford them in the current system. This target group is the lower middle class, like policemen, teachers and nurses. They have a steady income but in the current situation live in rented rooms or slums.
