Reprogramming of an old police Club into inclusive public space

The intervention is located on an area of 6,000 m², on Cerro San Juan, the highest point of the city of San Carlos, which is an urban and landscape landmark. The project seeks to facilitate social, cultural and economic interactions in an abandoned and obsolete space, but with great views, and patrimonial and community potential.

Corridor and court

To be aware of the spatial construction, not only as a process of manufacturing the physical, but also the aesthetic, particular and expressive imaginary of the moment and circumstances.

The mission of the artist according to Ligia Clark is "To give the participant the object that does not have importance by itself and that will only have it in the measure in which the participant acts". In this way the participation of the user or spectator becomes a co-production, seeing the intervention as a means to provoke generating a collective art.

The first resource was the mural, with which the collective Comando Creativo, from the beginning called the neighbors, to achieve a historical-cultural themed open-air museum, in Madariaga street, which leads to the site.

Further on the hill, the graffiti artist Marco Vialibre integrates the cover of the corridor, the bus and the elevated tanks in a multicolored work. Also, several art workshops are held with volunteers and neighbors of different ages, this is how the court, the interior and the tables of the foodtruck are converted into canvases.

The concrete geometric pieces of EDRO Estudio, arrive at the project as a donation, and are scattered to establish a common dialogue in aesthetics and also landscaping, where the local nursery "Cheo Peña" provides native species and biocontrollers that avoid the presence of mosquitoes.
