Anna Gerasimenko. A snow whirl for Sochi

Arrangements for the Olympic Games of 2014 are at full drive. In Imeretinskaya Valley a number of objects are being built at the moment, and a few other ones are in project. For many large countries the Olympic Games is a chance to demonstrate their national schools of architecture, but Russia is different. Russian architects are left to take personal initiative and make alternative projects for Sochi-2014. Such fighters for national atmosphere is A. Asadov’s studio and “Project-KS”, they have developed a conception of design of sport facilities named “sNezhnaya Russia”. Without breaking into the objects project they have created a smart “packing case” which is able to change the entire image.

Oxymoron of the situation led the architects to the idea, most of the Winter Olympic Games of 2014 will be host by the city without a winter as such. It is cold and windy there, but in resort town there are no several-day snowfalls, waist-high snow d
