In this project, I conducted a detailed assessment report for the Majran Mixed-Use Building, a key development in the UAE, to ensure its energy efficiency and sustainability comply with the Barajeel Code—the UAE’s building standard for energy efficiency in mixed-use developments. The assessment focused on evaluating the building's performance through advanced energy simulations and identifying areas of improvement to meet the country’s sustainability goals.
The Barajeel Code serves as a benchmark for reducing energy consumption, optimizing building designs, and promoting green building practices across the UAE. My role in this project was to ensure that Majran’s architectural and mechanical systems met these rigorous standards, ensuring optimal energy use while also prioritizing comfort and functionality for its mixed-use purposes.
The comprehensive simulation and analysis provided key insights into the building’s energy consumption, thermal comfort, and overall performance, ultimately contributing to the design decisions and operational strategies for reducing energy demand and increasing sustainability.
Key deliverables of the assessment included:
Energy Performance Analysis of the building’s HVAC, lighting, and thermal insulation.
Compliance Verification with Barajeel Code, identifying areas of non-compliance and proposed corrective measures.
Cost-Benefit Analysis and Energy Modeling for optimized retrofitting and new construction elements.
The outcome was a robust action plan to align Majran Mixed-Use Building with the UAE’s national energy goals, positioning it as a model for future developments in the region.
Key Highlights:
Building Type: Mixed-use development
Location: UAE
Objective: Ensure compliance with the Barajeel Code for energy efficiency
Energy Simulations: Conducted using state-of-the-art tools for thermal, lighting, and HVAC performance.
Sustainability Impact: Identified and addressed energy inefficiencies to reduce operational costs and environmental footprint.
