Tsialckovsky's bisycle boot
Cycling and pedestrian ring of Kaluga city
progect year: 2024
area: 17 ha
location: Kaluga, Russia
The project develops the first part of the cycling and walking route, which tourists get to after arriving at the railway station of the city. This segment of the route is located in the very center of the city, between 225 Moskovskaya Street and Barricade Street. It is located in the historical center of the city and is densely populated, so it is the most important part of the route in terms of the organization of urban space. The project is aimed at upgrading the territory and adding new functionality to the historic railway. The project is inclusive and includes all segments of the population of all ages and physical abilities. The project aims to eliminate self-organized landfills and marginal behavior in some areas of the city. The project aims to revive the importance of walking and cycling in the city to preserve a favorable ecological habitat.
To develop the route, seven design points were identified, centered around problematic areas of the urban environment and intended for both the local population and tourists.
The main feature of the proposed small architectural forms is the combination of popularization of traditional Kaluga patterns and ensuring the payback of the project.
