The Louis Vuitton store at Matsuya Ginza, a luxury department store in Tokyo‘s Ginza district, first opened its doors in 2000. A dramatic renovation followed in 2013 when acclaimed Japanese architect Jun Aoki created a new building with a façade inspired by the Ginza neighbourhood’s history as an Art Deco town. The original façade is covered in a so-called Soft Damier design that expresses the Damier pattern, one of Louis Vuitton‘s iconic motifs, but with soft curves. Now, more than a decade later, the retail space has been expanded, retaining the façade design, but merely adding more windows. The new interior design, created by New York City-based architect and longtime Louis Vuitton collaborator Peter Marino, sees the first floor filled with natural light and an open feel.

Here, the latest women’s bags, accessories, and fragrances are presented, while the second floor offers showcases women’s ready-to-wear and shoes. The third floor is home to a much larger men’s section and a bigger travel section with an extensive selection of products. In addition to offering a wide variety of men’s items, the travel area has also been redesigned to express the essence of travel, which is the origin of the Louis Vuitton brand. Across the premises, homey yet stylish nooks have been created where shoppers can sit back and ponder over their next purchase. Mind you, in celebration of the store reopening, a Capucines Mini bag and LV Arclight sneakers covered in glittering rhinestones have been released, which can only be purchased here. © superfuture
