展翅 户外临时装置设计丨中国湖州丨借光实践建筑设计工作室

《展翅》作品是为参加2025年浙江省湖州市–艺术在南山大地艺术季而设计的户外临时装置作品。场地是个竹林环绕,拥有开阔田野的乡村。第一感受就是希望像一只林中飞鸟一样,自由的飞翔在旷野里。因此如何设计翅膀,以及翅膀如何扇动成为了此次装置设计的要点。一是借助旷野的风,靠风吹翅膀上下煽动,另一种方式是希望人们参与其中,通过晃动秋千来带动翅膀上下扇动,故最后取名《展翅》作为作品名称。
The artwork “Unfurl” was designed as an outdoor temporary installation for participation in the 2025 Huzhou, Zhejiang – Art at Nanshan. The site is a rural area surrounded by bamboo forests, featuring open fields. My first impression was a longing to soar freely across the vast expanse, like a bird flying through the woods. Therefore, how to design the wings and how they move became the key considerations in this installation.  One approach is to harness the wind in the open field, allowing the breeze to flap the wings up and down. Another approach invites people to participate by swinging on a swing, which sets the wings in motion. Thus, the work was ultimately named “Unfurl.”

材料的选择上,因湖州盛产毛竹原本用重竹/竹钢(竹集成材)作主框架结构,通过张拉结构实现大跨度。并由Deepseek R1 大模型进行结构演算验证。机械构件则采用定制轴承和金属构件。通过秋千晃动释放翅膀重力势能,使翅膀向下煽动。并利用同一转轴的角速度相同,线速度不同的方式,以实现翅膀中间扇动幅度大,两边扇动幅度小的翅膀形态。

For material selection, since Huzhou is renowned for its abundance of moso bamboo, the main framework was originally intended to be constructed using heavy bamboo/bamboo steel (engineered bamboo composites). A large span was achieved through a tension-based system, and structural computations for this design were performed by the Deepseek R1 large language model. The mechanical components adopt custom-made bearings and metal parts. By swinging on the swing, gravitational potential energy is released, causing the wings to flap downward. By utilizing the principle that all points on the same axis share the same angular velocity but have different linear velocities, the design allows for larger flapping amplitudes at the center of the wings and smaller amplitudes at the edges.

但因预算缩减,主结构和机械部分都做了造型和材料上的调整。主结构则改为了樟子松胶合木以降低造价,表面木器漆保护,满足户外至少一年以内的使用。整个装置,单跨为8米,两跨共16m。利用张拉弦结构,中间增加木腹杆和钢丝绳下弦梁,来实现中间无柱的效果,并实现小截面的上弦梁。

The main structure was replaced with Scots Pine Glulam (Laminated Pine Timber) to reduce costs, with the surface treated with wood lacquer for weather resistance to ensure at least one year of durability outdoors. The entire installation features a single span of 8 meters, with a total of two spans measuring 16 meters. A tensioned cable structure was adopted, incorporating timber web members and steel cable lower chords in the center, in order to achieve a column-free middle section and allow for a smaller cross-section in the upper chord.

机械部分改为了由成品金属构件来拉动翅膀扇动,通过大幅度晃动和重荷载来拉动翅膀扇动。翅膀部分采用pvdf张拉膜,易现场裁切,也可满足室外的耐候性。同时翅膀龙骨增加张拉结构,避免悬挑经常晃动后,产生变形。通过木构工厂和金属加工厂预制构件,现场组装的方式来缩短工期。
The mechanical system was changed to use prefabricated metal components to drive the wing flapping motion. The wings are activated by large swinging movements and heavy loads, causing them to flap up and down. The wings are made of PVDF tensioned membrane, which is easy to cut on site and provides good weather resistance for outdoor use. Additionally, a tension structure was added to the wing’s framework to prevent deformation caused by frequent swaying of the cantilevered sections. To shorten the construction period, prefabricated components were produced in timber and metal workshops and assembled on site.

现场施工则由当地村民和雕塑厂的焊工完成。由村民组装零件,焊工完成整体拼装搭建。
Local villagers and welders from the sculpture factory completed the on-site construction, with villagers assembling the parts and welders handling the overall welding and installation.
