Algae Tiles

The project, which the design studio inspired in the Spring of 2021, proposes a facade system capable of removing CO2 from the environment. The ceramic tile system, attached to a building, provides a home for algae farming. The algae feed on the CO2 and reproduce in clear tubes attached to the ceramic tiles. This creates both clean oxygen and valuable algae-based products and materials.
