The Lincoln Heights site is bounded by the LA river on the West, the bustling Spring Street on the North, and a recreational center on the South. It is also situated in the middle of a mixture of different types of programs ranging from recreational, educational, commercial, to residential. With it location, the site effectively acts as a gateway as well as a social hub for the neighborhood.

The development of the community visual arts center as the catalytic program in addition to the music & dance school serves to enhance the building’s public nature and transform the project into a performing & visual arts hub for the neighborhood.
