Cabo Sports Complex, Mexico, by Taller Héctor Barroso

Walls and bleachers made from rammed earth surround this tennis court, which was designed by Mexican studio Taller Héctor Barroso to host the annual Mexican Open Los Cabos tennis tournament.

Situated near a beach in the state of Baja California Sur, the studio designed the complex and its sand-toned earthen surfaces to blend in with the desert landscape.

Diamond Domes, Switzerland, by Neue Holzbau and Rüssli Architekten

Two indoor tennis courts topped with geometric cross-laminated timber roofs flank a central outdoor tennis court at the Bürgenstock Resort in Switzerland.

Made from spruce wood, the diamond-patterned roofs were informed by crystal formations in rocks, designed by Swiss timber company Neue Holzbau for Swiss architecture studio Rüssli Architekten.

Floating tennis court, Australia, by Adidas and Parley for the Oceans

Sportswear brand Adidas teamed up with environmental organisation Parley for the Oceans to create a tennis court that floated within Australia's Great Barrier Reef marine park to coincide with the 2022 Australian Open tennis tournament.

Aiming to draw attention to the issue of plastic waste while also promoting a clothing collection, the court's surface was made from recycled plastic provided by Parley for the Oceans.

Court Simonne Mathieu, France, by Marc Mimram Architecture & Associés

For the Court Simonne Mathieu stadium at Roland Garros, home of the French Open, French studio Marc Mimram Architecture & Associés incorporated greenhouses into all four surrounding stands.

The stadium features a sunken court and arched glazed structures that enclose flora around the perimeter, designed to double as a tournament court and an extension of the surrounding Jardin des Serres d'Auteuil botanical garden.

All England Lawn Tennis Club, UK, by Hopkins Architects

An undulating timber-clad roof tops shelters six indoor courts at the All England Lawn Tennis Club in Wimbledon, London, situated opposite the club's main site that houses the iconic outdoor Wimbledon Championship courts.

British studio Hopkins Architects was informed by the shape of tennis rackets when designing the double-curved roof, which was constructed from steel beams supported on white Y-shaped columns.

Pabellón de Cuatro Usos, Chile, by Felipe Assadi Architects

Four zig-zagging buildings contain a sauna, gymnasium, baths and caretaker's lodgings at this seaside tennis court in Chile, designed by Chilean studio Felipe Assadi Architects.

The buildings touch at the corners but are angled slightly away from one another, and were clad in concrete tiles with subtle scalloped surfaces.

Common Grounds Terra and Menteng Tennis Club, Indonesia, by Fffaaarrr

Local architecture studio Fffaaarrr designed a cafe-cum-tennis club in Jakarta that features a single-storey glazed facade topped with a pitched roof facing the street, and a two-storey facade at the rear overlooking the outdoor tennis court.

The court is a maroon colour, designed to complement the terracotta walls, and stepped outdoor seating descends from the cafe's mezzanine level.

Garden Tennis Club of Cabourg, France, by Lemoal Lemoal Architectes

Parisian studio Lemoal Lemoal Architectes created a timber-frame building for the Garden Tennis Club of Cabourg on the north coast of France, which contains the club's changing facilities and toilets.

It was designed as a contemporary reinterpretation of Normandy's traditional half-timbered buildings, with sheets of translucent polycarbonate set behind exposed wooden beams and studs.
