Glisson Road
Located within the Glisson Road Conservation Area, in a private garden on the eastern edge of Cambridge University's Fenner's Cricket Grounds, the proposal replaces a lean-to conservatory and derelict garage with a new lightweight timber structure that complements the existing Victorian house.
Conceived as an outbuilding and extension to a semi-detached Victorian house, the project is unified by a single mono-pitched roof, creating a series of interconnected outdoor spaces that enhance the relationship between the house and its garden. The elongated layout takes full advantage of the site’s depth, establishing a direct connection between the interior and the surrounding landscape.
The extension introduces a new dining area, utility space, and an independently accessed garden room at the rear. These interior zones are linked by an open pergola, which defines a passageway between the private garden and a shared yard. The project reflects a thoughtful approach to both materiality and spatial flow, contributing to a seamless integration of old and new.
