, celebrating the 100th anniversary of its domestic water supply, sanitary ware, and tile business, has introduced a groundbreaking bathroom concept,

“bathtope”

featuring a foldable fabric bathtub. Launched on November 26, 2024, bathtope ushers in a new era of bathroom experiences.

Under the philosophy of “bathrooms should be more free,” LIXIL has stripped the bathroom down to its essentials, developing a detachable fabric bathtub. Inspired by traditional Japanese kimono and origami, this innovative design challenges conventional notions of the bathtub.

The centerpiece of this revolutionary bathroom is the foldable fabric bathtub, which can be compactly stored when not in use. Unlike traditional fixed FRP bathtubs, users can freely install or remove the bathtub based on time, season, or mood, allowing for flexible transitions between a spacious bathtub and a shower room within the same space.

The fabric bathtub features a double-layer structure of soft fibers and a waterproof membrane, gently enveloping the user’s head and back. Upon filling with water, the edge ropes naturally tighten, ensuring the bathtub bottom is firmly attached to the floor. Compared to traditional 1600mm FRP bathtubs, the new product saves approximately 26% of water usage, reflecting an eco-friendly approach.
