, recently completed the Milli Residence – a modern private residence in Ikoyi, Lagos, Nigeria.

Located in the heart of old Ikoyi, the design of this modern private residence in Ikoyi emphasizes understated living, creating a tranquil atmosphere from the moment you step inside. The neutral color palette, combined with Venetian plaster walls in a muted beige tone and marble flooring, provides a calm backdrop, allowing the carefully chosen furniture and decor to stand out.

According to the designers, the low-profile beige sofa, with its clean lines, beckons you to sit and relax, while a uniquely shaped wooden coffee table adds a touch of nature’s beauty to the room, grounding the space with its organic form.

Art plays a significant role in our projects, says the designers. “On one wall, a large artwork depicting figures in motion captures the energy and vibrancy of Lagos, infusing the room with a dynamic spirit. On another, a circular piece of textured art echoes the organic forms found throughout the space, creating a sense of continuity and harmony that ties the entire room together.”

The dining area is described as having a “striking contrast to the light tones of the living area”. This is thanks to it’s dark chairs and tables. According to the designers, this contrast with the light tones of the living area is testament to the design philosophy of balancing different elements to create a cohesive whole. “The dining space feels both sophisticated and welcoming, perfect for intimate dinners or lively gatherings with friends and family”.

The serene ambiance continues in the bedroom. The space is described as a serene haven that perfectly balances modern style with cozy comfort. “This space features a custom-made bed, adorned with crisp white linens and a gray textured comforter, creating a clean and inviting look. The bed promises restful nights and lazy mornings, wrapped in the softest fabrics.”

An artistic flair was introduced to the bedroom with a large abstract painting hanging over the bed. The large wall art features geometric shapes in muted tones of orange, black, and blue. “The soft neutral walls complement the light-colored curtains, which frame a large window, allowing natural light to flood the space and enhance its airy feel. The room feels like a sanctuary, a place where you can unwind and recharge”.

The designers placed a unique spherical lamp on the wooden bedside table. According to them, it casts a warm, ambient glow that adds to the cozy ambiance of the bedroom. On flooring, “the light-colored flooring ties the room together, harmonizing with the overall aesthetic and ensuring a cohesive design”.

Overall, this private residence in Ikoyi blends visual appeal with warmth and comfort, demonstrating how thoughtful design can create a welcoming and stylish home. According to the architects, every detail has been thoughtfully considered to create a space that feels both luxurious and homey.
