Overview

The Lava Glass Sculpture Garden is a unique attraction in New Zealand. It features not only an acre of manicured grounds, ponds and bird-attracting native trees but also more than 600 glass art sculptures.

Take a stroll past fields of magical glass flowers, glass korus, glass trees, glass mushrooms, and tree orbs and admire a 15-tier waterfall made from shell platters. In summer Lava Glass organizes open-air concerts from time to time. Check out the Lava Glass Facebook page to stay up to date.

All glass sculptures at Lava Glass are created by Lynden Over and his team of accomplished glass workers in the glassblowing studio on site.

Lynden Over is a highly regarded and award-winning New Zealand glass artist. His style is striking and unusual. Lynden Over’s inspiration comes from the distinctive and dramatic New Zealand landscape, its geology and its light. The work itself awakens our senses.

All glass ornaments shown in the garden can be made on request. A selection of garden art can also be ordered via the Lava Glass online shop.

Glass ornaments can be shipped worldwide.

The Lava Glass Sculpture Garden is only 10 minutes from Taupo, on State Highway 5, on the way to Rotorua. It’s part of the Lava Glass complex, that offers not only this unique garden but also a glassblowing studio, glass art gallery and gourmet cafe.
