Text description provided by the architects. The project is located on a large plot of land in San Miguel del Monte, near the rural neighborhood of La Florentina. This is a low-density area, characterized by green expanses, dirt roads, and the presence of metal silos that complete the landscape. These agricultural structures, typical of the imagery surrounding getaways from the city of Buenos Aires, serve as both a symbolic and material point of reference.
The strategy was deliberate: to build a house with a single, enveloping, and continuous material that could reflect and engage with the surroundings. Corrugated metal, present in the local warehouses and silos, becomes the main material here: revisited and reconfigured as an aesthetic and tectonic resource for inhabiting the plain. Its changing character in response to light, its reflective capacity, and its silver coloring allow the house to blend in with the skies and the frost over the green typical of the countryside plain.
The program is primarily developed on the ground floor, in a linear and fluid distribution. However, the resolution of the roof with a single large converging slope allows for an interior space that gains height at a central point. This space is utilized as a habitable loft, a sort of lookout or refuge for the younger ones, adding a playful and expansive dimension to daily use.
Thus, the house is envisioned as a contemporary refuge in the countryside: sober, austere, silent, and deeply connected to its immediate context. A house that does not seek to impose itself on the landscape, but rather to continue its logic, resonate with its memories, and create, from the minimal, a space to inhabit new memories.
