The Gardens Of The Castle Of Milandes : In the centre of Perigord Noir, the Castle of Milandes overlooks the river Dordogne. The Lord François de Caumont built it in 1489 at the request of his wife, Claude de Cardaillac. The new owners, M and Mrs Henry de Labarre, wanted to enhance the gardens and have planted more than 2800 boxes in order to make the different plantations form a coherent unity: four plantations at the castle’s entry surround the famous magnolias from 1900, different beds in front of the main façade show more than 3500 flowers surrounding a fountain installed it 2007, another plantation on the North side gives our birds of prey the possibility to relax during the shows, and last but not least 250 lavenders are situated in front of the round tower at the North East angle of the castle.
