This building as Second Empire architectural style and once housed the headquarters of the Molson Bank, which has branches throughout Canada.
The institution was founded in 1853, and incorporated as a chartered bank in 1855 after an attempt refused in 1841.
She counted among its shareholders John, William and Thomas Molson and George Moffat and George Moffat and son Samuel Gerrard, James Ferrier, William Dow, Johnson and John Thompson Ogilviy. This institution was one of the first Canadian banks. The bank had a reserve fund of 4 800 000 dollars in 1914. She had at that time among its directors: William Molson, William M. Birks, W. A. Black, Geoge E. Drummound, F. W. Molson and Mr McNioll, all the big names in the high Canadian finance.
Molson Bank merged with Bank of Montreal (BMO) in 1925.
