recently completed a two-bedroom shortlet apartment in Lagos – where a careful balance of shape, form, and color defines the living space.
A central feature of the design is the pipe wall shelf, which serves as a focal point upon entry, introducing the minimalist aesthetic that runs throughout the apartment. According to the designers, the design intent focused on using color psychology to create a space that promotes a positive mood and emotion. “The shades of blue evoke an energizing, yet secure and welcoming vibe to this rental property”.

Shades of blue are prominently used to evoke a sense of energy while maintaining a secure and calming environment. This approach aligns with the overall goal of making the two-bedroom shortlet apartment an inviting space for short-term guests.
In the living area, the pipe wall shelf is an immediate point of interest, reflecting the simple elegance and functional design that characterizes the apartment. This black metal shelf contrasts with the earthy color palette that is seen across the space.

Blue and mustard are the chosen accent colors, adding vibrancy without overwhelming the visual experience. The designers also incorporated wood elements, contributing to the apartment’s warm and cohesive look. The dining table and TV console, both featuring a dark wood finish, add a touch of sophistication, while the lighter wood flooring complements the overall design.

The decor extends this earthy theme further, with beige curtains that blend seamlessly into the general aesthetic. The bedrooms continue the use of blue, where it transitions from an accent color to a dominant feature. Cool blue walls provide a calming backdrop, enhancing the minimalistic feel of the sleeping areas.

The apartment also includes artistic elements, such as distinct light fittings and wall art, adding character to the space. These elements in addition to the pipe wall shelf exemplifies the balance of function and design that Dara Design aimed to achieve in this project.

Overall, this two-bedroom shortlet apartment in Lagos showcases a considerate approach to design, where color, shape, and material come together to create a space that is both aesthetically pleasing and thoughtfully arranged.
