Qalā: Architecture With a Crown

Qalā: Architecture With a CrownHOFF Competition Submission | 2025

This project was part of our submission to the HOFF architectural competition, where we explored the intersection of heritage and modern sustainable living in the UAE.

Qalā — meaning fortress — draws inspiration from Emirati forts and traditional defensive architecture, reinterpreted through a contemporary, minimal lens. We aimed to create a residence that balances privacy, environmental sensitivity, and architectural character, using natural materials and passive cooling strategies.

this experience was incredibly valuable for us as a team. It was an opportunity to design with purpose, push boundaries, and collaborate closely throughout every stage — from concept development and planning, to visualization and sustainability detailing.

Huge thanks to my amazing teammates for the effort, dedication, and shared passion that shaped every detail of this submission. The journey was rewarding on so many levels — and we're proud of what we created together.
