云溪植物园，是广州践行国家生物多样性保护与可持续发展战略、构建国家植物园“1+3+N” 城园融合体系（以华南国家植物园为核心，北-中-南3片迁地保护示范区为支撑，N个专类植物展示园和生态科普宣教点为延伸）的重要节点，旨在构建一个从国家植物园至街头社区的综合性植物保护、科研科普体系网，成为植物园与社区公园融合的创新典范。

Yunxi Botanical Garden is a key initiative in advancing China’s national strategies for biodiversity conservation and sustainable development in Guangzhou. It serves as a critical hub within the country’s “1+3+N” urban-park integration framework (anchored by the South China National Botanical Garden, supported by three regional relocation demonstration areas, and extended through specialized botanical display gardens and ecological education sites). The garden is designed to form a comprehensive networkthat seamlessly integrates plant conservation, scientific research, public education, and immersive visitor experiences. It stands as a pioneering model for harmonizing national botanical resources with the accessibility of a community park.

AECOM团队以“城园共融、生态共生、人民共享”为设计原则，携手广州园林建筑规划设计研究总院、华南理工大学建筑设计研究院有限公司，负责云溪植物园环境提升工程整体景观设计工作。历时3年精心打造，开园后，这里迅速成为深受市民与游客喜爱的绿色休闲目的地。

Guided by the principles of “Urban-Nature Integration, Ecological Coexistence, and Public Accessibility,” the AECOM team collaborated with local partners to deliver a comprehensive landscape design for Yunxi Botanical Garden’s environmental enhancement. Following three years of meticulous construction, the garden has become a cherished green oasis for both residents and visitors.

【城市+山林】

City + Forest

公园坐拥广州“中央绿肺”白云山的西麓，核心区约35公顷。其前身云溪公园始建于1999年，伴随旧机场搬迁、白云新城和地铁新线路的建设，原有配套设施亟待升级，以满足新城功能与市民日益多元的生活需求。焕新后的公园，不仅吸引周边居民深入探索山林野趣，更丰富了市民在白云山的整体游憩体验。

Located at the western foot of Baiyun Mountain — Guangzhou’s “central green lung,” — the garden covers a core area of approximately 35 hectares. Originally opened as Yunxi Park in 1999, the site underwent essential revitalization to align with the city’s evolution post-airport relocation, Baiyun New City development, and metro expansion. Today, it serves as both a gateway for locals to discover wilderness experiences and an elevated recreational destination enhancing Baiyun Mountain’s appeal.

【生态+艺术】

Ecology + Art

设计巧妙融合生态治水、基于自然的解决方案（NbS）等核心理念，通过对场地自然格局的因地制宜梳理，并结合全龄友好的包容性设计，公园成功吸引了多元化的访客。艺术化的构筑物设计、植物展示手法，以及引入“自然艺术策展”等空间创新运营模式，不仅激活社区活力，也提升了公园经济效益，为公园注入了可持续生命力。

The design skillfully integrates ecological water management and Nature-based Solutions (NbS), reshaping the site’s natural topography while implementing inclusive, all-ages accessibility. Artistic structures, innovative botanical displays, and “nature-art exhibitions” foster community engagement, stimulate economic value, and ensure the park’s sustained vitality.

01云溪融城：350m渗透式界面，焕活山城生活圈

01 Blurring Urban-Nature Boundaries：A redesigned 350-meter permeable interface seamlessly stitches the garden into the urban fabric.

原云溪公园临街界面封闭，昭示性弱，受高差及天桥阻挡，临园不见门；紧邻道路的水景亦被浓密灌木丛遮挡，入园难见水。AECOM多专业团队提出针对性策略，打造渗透式的公园界面：

The original Yunxi Garden featured a closed street interface with limited visibility. Elevation changes and overpasses obstructed views of the entrance, while the water features near the road were obscured by dense shrubs, making them hard to notice upon entering the park. AECOM’s multidisciplinary team proposed targeted strategies to create a more permeable garden interface:

优化主入口动线：将原藏于天桥桥墩下方的主入口，巧妙调整至天桥外侧临水溪的开阔区域，顺接山势；

升级入园体验：入园即沿溪而行，视线豁然开朗，远眺白云山主峰摩星岭；

通过动线引导与视线通廊的精心设计，公园界面焕然一新。市民近可观叠溪潺潺，远可揽云山秀色。多层次绿色景观廊道自此映入城市画卷，真正实现了“山、园、水、城”四景交融。

Optimizing the main entrance pathway: The original main entrance, previously concealed beneath an overpass, was strategically relocated to an open area beside the creek, seamlessly following the natural terrain.

Enhancing the entry experience: Upon arrival, visitors are guided along a creekside path with an unobstructed view toward Baiyun Mountain’s main peak, Moxing Ridge.

This transformation optimizes main entry circulation while establishing vital visual corridors that weave creek flows, terraced waterfalls, and mountain vistas into the cityscape, achieving harmony among mountain, garden, water, and city.

02生机云溪：连水脉，复生境，营造多层次植物群落

02 Reviving Ecosystems:Connecting water veins, reviving habitats, and creating multi-layered plant communities 水系连通 Restored Hydrological Connectivity:

连通上下游断流水系，还原山体自然汇水路径，激活水体循环；巧借场地高差，构建多级自然叠水，延续自然山水脉络，营造长达600米的蜿蜒林溪；利用软性植物驳岸入水、水深控制等手法，营造多样化的小微湿地群落，促进水陆生物交流，提升山林溪谷的生物多样性。

By reconnecting fragmented water systems, the design restores natural hydrological flows and reactivates water circulation. Taking advantage of the site’s natural topographic gradients, a series of natural, multi-tiered waterfalls were created to extend the mountain’s water veins, forming a 600-meter accessible streamside trail. Softly contoured plant embankments and controlled water depths create clusters of micro-wetlands, facilitating land-water ecological exchange and significantly enhancing biodiversity within the forest creek valley.

生境提升

Enhanced Habitat Mosaic:

林相优化：保留原有山林树木，并有针对性地结合场地增加植物园植物品种，园内设有新优花卉、蜜源植物、珍稀植物、野牡丹、睡莲等5大专类展示园，为鸟类、昆虫提供栖息觅食的空间。

Forest structure optimization:By preserving existing forest trees and supplementing them with a diverse range of botanical garden species, the Garden introduces five specialized display gardens. These include collections of Ornamental flowers, nectar plants, rare plants, wild peonies and water lilies, providing rich habitats for birds and insects.

坑壁修复：原溪谷中段存在面宽130米、深约7-10米的垂直硬质挡墙，为溪谷中主要的生态断裂带。通过地形重塑与生态覆绿手法，恢复植被与水系的连续性，实现坡面绿化、土壤保水和生境多样性的同步提升。▼深坑改造前后，Before and after renovation©AECOM

Pit wall restoration:The creek valley previously featured a 130-meter-wide, 7-10-meter ecological discontinuity zone. Through terrain reshaping and ecological planting, the team restored the continuity of the vegetation and water systems. This restoration also helped improve slope stabilization, soil water retention, and overall habitat diversity.

湿地重构：扩大原有半硬质驳岸池塘，采用生态化草坡入水的方式，形成水岸无界的生境空间，种植湿地植物，丰富过路水鸟的觅食空间，优化湿地动物栖息繁衍环境。

Wetland reconstruction:The original semi-hardened pond embankment was expanded and transformed using ecological grass banks to create a seamless and resilient wetland habitat. The introduction of native wetland plants enriched feeding areas for migratory birds and enhanced the habitat quality for wetland fauna.

03诗意云溪：岭南神韵的现代转译，依山构园，意境绵延

03 Sense of Place: Lingnan Unfolded:A modern interpretation of Lingnan charm — a garden built into the mountains, extending artistic expression

云溪庭 Yunxi Courtyard

原址为叠水园茶室，运用岭南造园手法，借山水自然之势 “因地制园、借景藏景”，改造巧妙围合两座现代岭南建筑，前庭引溪流潭影成水院，后庭借山势层林作山庭。整体自然嵌入白云山水之间，达成“庭院亦山水，山水亦庭院”之境，通过近、中、远三重景观层次，彰显岭南园林“小中见大”的设计精髓。

Originally functioning as a teahouse, Yunxi Courtyard draws on traditional Lingnan gardening principles, leveraging the site’s natural mountain and water features to “shaping spaces through terrain and framing views through borrowed scenery”. The renovation skillfully reimagines two modern Lingnan-style buildings. In the front courtyard, creek reflections are introduced to form a serene water courtyard, while the rear courtyard uses the mountain’s layered topography to create a secluded mountain courtyard. Seamlessly integrated into Baiyun Mountain’s natural landscape, the design achieves a poetic unity where the courtyard dissolves into the landscape and the landscape embraces the courtyard, epitomizing the spatial philosophy of “expansiveness within intimacy”.

虹桥 Rainbow Bridge

溪谷间的弧形虹桥，既是“路”也是“景”。设计通过改造与新建的形式，充分考虑桥体所在环境、景观协调性等因素，强调形态上的拱与平、风格上古典与现代的双重融合，打造出具有自身独特气质的景观桥。

Gracefully spanning the creek valley, the arched Rainbow Bridge serves as both pathway and scenery. The design, through thoughtful renovation and new construction, considers the surrounding environment and emphasizes harmony between structure and landscape. By blending classical form with modern aesthetics, the bridge becomes a distinctive landscape feature with a character of its own.

04绽放云溪：不止于植物园，解锁自然空间的无限可能

04 Dynamic EngagementMore than a botanical garden, unleashing the potential of natural spaces

云溪植物园在场地设计阶段便预留了富有弹性的景观留白空间，为后续运营提供了多元场景的可能。“自然遇见艺术” 的理念被贯彻至园区运营之中，通过自然艺术创作、植物科普、观鸟探秘、企业发布会、花艺盆景展示和节事大会等丰富活动，有效触达不同兴趣与动机的访客群体，吸引了全龄段人群的热情参与。重新开园不到一年，园区访客量即增长3倍，年轻群体占比则显著提升至30%！

Yunxi Botanical Garden was designed with flexibility in mind, reserving flexible spaces to support a wide range of future activities. The concept of “Nature Meets Art” is embedded in the Garden’s operations, enabling activities such as nature-inspired exhibitions, ecological education, birdwatching, corporate events, and seasonal festivals. This diversity of experiences attracts visitors with varying interests and motivations. Within one year of reopening, the number of visitors tripled, with young people now accounting for 30 percent of total attendance.

艺术创作

Artistic creation

云桥、入口服务中心、溪谷等处既可远眺白云新城的日落天际线，也可窥探杉林溪谷，桥身及建筑亦可作为艺术家创作的理想载体。

Locations such as the Cloud Bridge, service center at the entrance, and creek valley offer scenic views of the Baiyun New City skyline at sunset, and serve as ideal inspiring spaces for artists.

项目负责人、AECOM景观设计执行总监吴琨回忆道：2020年的3月，我们陪同业主初次踏勘云溪，最大的感受是这里蕴藏良好的生态本底，却如深藏的蒙尘明珠，难为公众所享。因此，整体设计的核心在于以敏感而克制的手法细致梳理场地，创造性呈现其原有的美，让岭南特有的山林诗意与市民品质生活自然交融，传递充盈的幸福感。如今，随着设计预留的弹性空间渐次激活，这座公园正作为宝贵的绿色资产，更深入地服务城市。

Wu Kun, Project Leader and Executive Director, Landscape Architecture, AECOM recalls: “During our first site visit with the client in March 2020, we recognized Yunxi’s remarkable ecological potential. Yet at the time, it felt like a hidden gem, underutilized and disconnected from the public. The core of our design approach was to carefully and sensitively refine the site, creatively presenting its intrinsic beauty, allowing the poetic mountain forest character of Lingnan to harmoniously blend with urban life and convey a true sense of well - being. Now, as the flexible spaces utilized for various activities, the Garden is increasingly becoming a vital green asset for the city.

自开放以来，云溪植物园已成功承办“外交官看中国·广东行”驻华使节交流研讨会、第32届广州园林博览会、2024广州市小微湿地观鸟赛等丰富活动。它不仅是一处重要的植物保育科研基地，更以“山水园林+自然运营”的独特模式，成为市民亲近自然、感受岭南文化的城市绿洲，树立了中国推动生态保护与城市发展的创新实践。

Since its opening, transcending the traditional role of a botanical garden, Yunxi Botanical Garden employs a unique “Landscape Integration + Nature-Centric Operations” model. It has successfully hosted prestigious international events, including diplomatic forums and garden expos. Serving as an urban oasis where citizens connect with nature and experience Lingnan culture, the garden exemplifies China’s innovative approach to harmonizing ecological conservation with urban development.
