As the lead architect for Hidesign’s flagship concept store in Pondicherry, I had the unique opportunity to blend the elegance of classic French architecture with a modern twist, creating a space that not only reflects the brand’s timeless appeal but also stands as a visual landmark in the heart of Pondicherry.

The project’s main challenge was transforming an existing building with minimal structural changes and within a very tight budget. Every detail had to be thoughtfully integrated—preserving the building’s historical charm while incorporating modern, functional design elements. The result is a seamless fusion of old-world charm and contemporary luxury, from the iconic facade to the meticulously curated interior spaces.

Despite the constraints, we’ve succeeded in creating a space that doesn’t just function as a retail store, but as a destination. The store has quickly become a defining piece of architecture in Pondicherry, drawing visitors and patrons alike, not just for its design, but for the experience it offers. The project was a true testament to the power of thoughtful design, innovation, and adaptive reuse.
