Sport is the embodiment of beauty, artistry, justice, courage, honour, enjoyment, vitality, progress and peace.
Center Stage Ground, Trendy and Fresh

Sports Summit, Vibrant Oasis
As the first major milestone in the development of Shenzhen’s sports sector, the Sports Center has borne witness to the city’s remarkable athletic legacy. The project’s planning and architectural design is led by Academician Meng Jianmin of SZAD. The landscape design is led by LOLA and Long Chase. In response to Shenzhen’s unique regional climate, we have reimagined the traditional limitations of indoor-focused sports venues. Guided by the core concept of “Athletic Peak, Vibrant Oasis,” the center integrates natural textures into spatial design—shaping an iconic architectural presence while cultivating diverse and inclusive public fitness spaces. The revitalized Sports Center emerges as a super catalyst—energizing urban life while reconnecting the city with its ecological foundations. It aims to become a public vitality engine where nature, sports, and culture converge.

Towards the World: A Cultural Oasis
Towards the World Plaza

Anchored by the “Marching to the World” sculpture—symbolizing the city’s memory—the South Plaza is organically arranged along the central axis, linking the stadium and arenas. Six sculptural, 32m-high light towers redefine the plaza’s ceremonial axis. Avoiding the lifelessness of traditional large plazas, the design balances ceremony with daily vibrancy. The central plaza efficiently handles event crowds while adapting to Shenzhen’s climate. Flanking the plaza, 98 Terminalia trees (仁面子树) create shaded canopies. Elevated planting beds resolve shallow soil issues and double as seating. This space thrives during both major events and daily public life.

Beneath four generously shaded tree groves, we have thoughtfully crafted a series of human-scaled plaza gardens, offering citizens a more approachable and immersive public space experience:
Shadow Canopy Garden— A tranquil retreat nestled in dappled shade
Smart Screen Garden— A tech-driven corner for interactive public fitness
Memory Garden— A story wall made from repurposed materials of the original South Plaza, preserving history through design
Cloud Garden— An elevated vantage point that frames the Shenzhen skyline like a cinematic urban viewfinder

The four themed gardens are embedded like vibrant green oases within the “Marching to the World” Plaza, transforming this central axis into a daily energy generator for the public. Through a flexible design approach, achieve a delicate balance between grandeur and intimacy.

Athletes StarPlaza
As the ceremonial entrance for athletes, the West Plaza preserves the original Sports Center’s legacy by retaining six iconic athlete sculpture groups embodying the city’s sporting spirit. Reimagined along a new axis, the bronze figures form a powerful array, positioned by scale and symbolic energy. These statues witness both Shenzhen’s athletic history and new generations preparing to compete. Citizens walk this “sculptural narrative axis,” tracing the city’s sports passion within a spirit-filled space. For athletes, the figures become inspirational symbols, embodying the Olympic “Faster, Higher, Stronger” ethos. The West Plaza thus transforms into a Starlight Gateway, bridging past glory with future triumphs.

Interconnected across the entire region, a vibrant oasis

The second-level platform of the Sports Center is conceived as a “dynamic urban connector,” seamlessly integrating the buildings and various public amenities into one cohesive whole. The platform also opens itself to the city, stitching urban fabric back together with intention and inclusivity: Southward, it extends into the everyday vibrancy of Baihua Community Eastward, it links with the industrial pulse of Bagualing Westward, it reaches the lush green lungs of Bijia Hill Park In doing so, the Sports Center has broken free from its former enclosure—once isolated like a “triangular island” by surrounding arterial roads—and has been reborn as a multi-dimensional hub of vitality, where city and park, people and place come together in a new era of shared urban life.

The second-level platform is not only a vital urban connector but also a three-dimensional incubator of public vitality. A smart circular running track encircles the stadium and arena like a pulsating artery, linking four dynamic zones.

The stadium’s innovative dual-level running track system creates a rain-or-shine running haven. No matter the scorching sun or pouring rain, citizens can experience the joy of running as if walking on clouds. This second-level platform has become a green oasis runway park.
