Project Overview: A Quiet Presence Amidst the City’s Buzz
微筑设计工作室近日完成了MaxStyle服饰杭州四季青旗舰店的改造设计。面对基地的诸多限制条件,设计团队为享有”中国服装第一街”美誉的杭州四季青商圈打造出一座全新的建筑标杆。
The architectural design firm Microcosm Design Studio recently completed the renovation of the MaxStyle flagship store in Hangzhou’s SiJiqing Street, a district known as “China’s first street of fashion.” Despite significant site constraints, the design team has created a new architectural landmark within this bustling commercial hub.

The design’s primary facade is a serene and elegant PVDF membrane structure, with two distinct glass volumes cleverly integrated at the top and bottom of the building. This solution effectively frees the building from the dense surrounding environment.

In this high-value urban core, the design boldly introduces a 180-degree, two-story, column-free arched entrance, transforming a simple six-story hotel into a one-of-a-kind professional apparel flagship store.

Site and Challenges: Finding Room to Breathe
项目原址为一栋六层旅馆建筑,坐落于杭州市上城区四季青服装街的黄金地段,四周被三栋体量庞大的服装市场建筑紧密包围,其中一栋更是高达60米的巨型建筑。

The original site was a six-story hotel located in the heart of Siqing Street in Hangzhou’s Shangcheng District. The building was tightly surrounded by three massive apparel markets, one of which is a towering 60-meter-tall structure.

设计面临的核心挑战在于:如何妥善处理项目与周边建筑的空间关系,有效化解巨型建筑带来的压迫感,让这座建筑在三个庞然大物之间获得空间的喘息机会,为使用者营造舒适宜人的空间体验。
The core challenge was how to manage the spatial relationship with these imposing neighbors, mitigate their oppressive scale, and create a comfortable and inviting experience for visitors by giving the building a chance to breathe between these giants.

同时,如何让一栋高度仅六层、单层面积仅280平方米的小体量建筑在巨构林立的环境中脱颖而出,充分展现MaxStyle品牌的独特气质与品牌内涵,更是设计思考的重中之重。
A crucial consideration was also how a small, six-story building with a footprint of just 280 square meters per floor could stand out in this dense environment and fully express the unique identity and brand essence of MaxStyle.

策略:以空间开敞回应城市
Strategy: An Open Space Responds to the City
设计团队首先对基地周边环境进行了深入细致的分析:建筑四周90%的界面与三栋巨型服装市场紧密相邻,唯有东南角相对开敞,面向一片开阔的停车场,远景层次丰富,可远眺杭州钱江新城错落有致的城市天际线。这一角度同时也是项目对外展示品牌形象的最佳区域。
The design team began with a detailed analysis of the surrounding environment. Ninety percent of the building’s perimeter was closely adjacent to the three massive market structures. Only the southeast corner was relatively open, facing a large parking lot with a rich visual backdrop, offering a distant view of the tiered Hangzhou Qianjiang New Town skyline. This angle was also the best area to showcase the brand’s image.

基于这一分析,设计将东南角确定为项目的主要出入口,一、二层采用通高空间设计,营造挑空中庭效果,同时全面开放整个商业界面,让顾客从外部密闭、逼仄的街巷步入建筑时,感受到豁然开朗的空间转变和明媚温暖的氛围感受。
Based on this analysis, the southeast corner was designated as the main entrance. The first and second floors were designed as a double-height space to create a soaring atrium, while the entire commercial facade was opened up. This dramatic shift from the confined and narrow streets to an open, bright, and welcoming interior was designed to create a sense of revelation for visitors.

拱形中庭:柔和几何中的精神庇护所
The Arched Atrium: A Spiritual Sanctuary of Soft Geometry
设计在入口处以两个相切的四分之一圆柱体构建出流线型空间,形体饱满、转折自然;同时在两圆柱体交接的建筑角点处,通过结构转换,营造出纯净的无柱转角空间,内部则通过三个大小、高度各异的半椭圆体与之垂直相交,形成外部街道到大厅,最终到服饰展厅之间的柔性过渡。整个空间富有节奏与层次,兼具功能性与仪式感。
At the entrance, two intersecting quarter-cylinders form a fluid, smooth space. At the architectural corner where the two cylinders meet, a structural transformation creates a pure, column-free space. Three semi-elliptical forms of varying sizes and heights intersect this space perpendicularly, creating a smooth transition from the external street to the lobby and, finally, to the apparel showrooms.

设计运用最基本的几何元素——圆柱体与椭圆体,通过交错、切割、重组等手法,营造出具有人类原始庇护所般的安全感与包容性,同时也充满了光影变化、结构力量与精神象征。
The entire space is rhythmic and layered, balancing functionality with a sense of ceremony.By using the most basic geometric elements—cylinders and ellipses—through a process of intersection, cutting, and recombination, the design evokes a sense of security and inclusivity reminiscent of ancient human shelters. This space is also filled with dynamic interplay of light and shadow, structural power, and symbolic meaning.

观景盒子:引导视线,链接城市
The Viewing Box: A Glimpse of the City
在建筑五、六层的东南角位置,设计突破传统矩形建筑转角的限制,植入一个与外部景观空间视线完全通透的玻璃盒子,作为整栋建筑唯一的观景装置。在有限的条件下,这个观景器内可以饱览钱江新城的壮美城市景观。
At the southeast corner of the fifth and sixth floors, the design breaks from the constraints of traditional rectangular building corners by inserting a glass box that offers a completely transparent view of the external landscape. Within this viewing device, visitors can enjoy a magnificent view of the Qianjiang New Town skyline.

观景器同时承担着MaxStyle品牌对外展示的第一窗口功能。从对面的停车场远眺,企业 Logo 显现在玻璃盒子之上,成为视觉焦点,吸引顾客循着标识接近建筑,再进入挑空大厅,形成从远观到进入的连续空间体验。这种从视觉牵引到身体置入的动线设计,大大增强了品牌的在场感与记忆点。
This viewing box also serves as the primary display window for the MaxStyle brand. Seen from the parking lot, the company’s logo appears on the glass box, becoming a visual focal point. This draws customers to approach the building and enter the soaring atrium, creating a continuous spatial experience from distant viewing to physical immersion. This strategic flow, which guides visitors from a visual cue to physical engagement, significantly enhances the brand’s presence and memorability.

材料与外观:回归丝绸的灵感
Materials and Facade: Inspired by Silk
项目周边的建筑普遍采用穿孔铝板创造夸张造型,或通过鲜艳色彩来吸引人们的注意力。微筑设计更加关注建筑自身的逻辑性与空间营造品质。
While many buildings in the area use perforated aluminum panels for dramatic effect or bright colors to attract attention, Mircocosm Design focused on the building’s internal logic and the quality of its spatial design.

建筑外立面材料的选择灵感源于中国传统服饰材料——丝绸,同时回应周边环境,希望采用具有半透明性、温润如丝绸般质感的材料来赋予建筑内敛的力量,营造服饰品牌旗舰店的独特气质。
The choice of facade material was inspired by silk, a traditional Chinese textile. The goal was to use a material with a translucent, silk-like texture to give the building a sense of quiet strength and create a unique character for the apparel flagship store.

经过精心比选,建筑最终采用了来自Serge Ferrari法拉利织物公司的预应力聚酯PVDF膜作为外立面材料。这种材料在白天具有透光不透影的特性,在建筑间距极为紧迫的情况下,有效保障了使用者的私密性需求。
After careful selection, a pre-stressed polyester PVDF membrane from Serge Ferrari was chosen for the facade. During the day, this material is translucent, providing privacy for users, which is essential given the close proximity of the surrounding buildings.

The gentle, white membrane facade, combined with the transparent glass volumes above and below, creates a striking contrast of solid and void. This distinctive architectural style adds a new urban landscape element to SiJiqing Street.

Day to Night: The Building as a Vessel of Light
入夜时分,在内部照明系统的精心烘托下,整体膜结构与异形入口空间、矩形观景器共同构成了与白天截然不同的城市夜景。建筑呈现出璀璨夺目的视觉效果,如明珠般照亮整个商圈的夜空,成为四季青商圈一道亮丽的风景线。
At night, with the careful illumination of the interior lighting system, the membrane structure, the unique entrance, and the rectangular viewing box create a spectacular urban nightscape completely different from its daytime appearance. The building radiates with a brilliant glow, illuminating the night sky like a jewel and becoming a highlight of the SiJiqing Street commercial district.

The MaxStyle Siqing Street flagship store is the result of a deep integration of brand philosophy, design thinking, and client trust. In this dense and competitive fashion hub, WeiZhu has used space to respond to the brand’s spiritual aspirations, using architectural language to articulate MaxStyle’s pursuit of quality, taste, and a vision for the future. This project is more than just a building design; it is an exploration of the potential for the coexistence of commerce and a spiritual space.
