Set within the lush and vibrant landscape of Bangladesh, the hotel and apartment complex is envisioned as a contemporary retreat that celebrates tropical living while ensuring comfort, sustainability, and cultural resonance.
Site & Orientation
The buildings are oriented to capture prevailing south and southeast breezes, which naturally cool the interiors. Wide eaves and shaded verandas protect against heavy monsoon rains and the intense summer sun, while still allowing natural light to filter in. Courtyards and open atriums create air circulation pathways, reducing dependence on mechanical cooling.
Architectural Expression
The architecture blends modern simplicity with subtle references to Bengali tradition. The use of brick façades, inspired by local heritage, is complemented with timber screens and bamboo shading devices. Vertical fins and perforated Jaali-like elements filter daylight, creating a play of light and shadow reminiscent of the region’s craft traditions.
Hotel Component
Lobby & Reception: A double-height space that opens into a landscaped water court. The water body acts as a cooling element, tempering the air before it flows indoors.
Guest Rooms: Designed with cross-ventilation, balconies, and large operable windows overlooking greenery or water features. Light-colored finishes reduce heat absorption.
Amenities: Rooftop infinity pool shaded café terraces, and a wellness spa surrounded by tropical gardens. Public areas are semi-open, encouraging guests to experience the climate while staying comfortable under shade and breeze.
Apartment Component
Unit Design: Apartments are compact yet airy, with open-plan layouts and large balconies functioning as outdoor living rooms. Shaded by vertical louvers, these balconies extend daily life outdoors while offering protection from sun and rain.
Shared Spaces: Rooftop gardens and community pavilions promote social interaction. A central green court filled with native trees connects residents with nature and supports biodiversity.
Sustainability Features: Rainwater harvesting, solar panels, and permeable paving for stormwater management ensure resilience to monsoons and sustainable living.
Landscape Integration
Inspired by the deltaic landscape of Bangladesh, the design integrates water gardens, lotus ponds, and palm groves. Native species provide shade, reduce heat, and attract birds, while open courtyards echo the traditional homestead pattern.
Atmosphere
The project seeks to create a sanctuary where the built environment dissolves into the tropical landscape. Guests and residents alike experience the rhythm of Bangladesh’s climate—rain, sun, and breeze—framed within architecture that is both protective and celebratory.
