"For me, the interior is about bringing a smile, taking you back to childhood, and offering a pause from the everyday bustle,"says Shushana Kachatrian, interior & furniture designer, and founder of STUDIO SHOO
CONCEPT
The café is set in a brick building with large windows overlooking the embankment, occupying a 124 m² space
This project carried particular significance for our client, as their office is located just above the café, whose design was also developed by our studio
The café was intended to reflect the spirit of their team, a place that conveys the atmosphere in which their projects are born. The client envisioned a warm, welcoming, and slightly whimsical interior
Our main goal was to create a light and airy space that evokes a sense of warmth, innocence, and calm. We wanted the interior to take guests back to childhood, a place to dream and momentarily escape the bustle of everyday life
IN PROGRESS
We started with a spacious room filled with natural light and defined by its brick walls. One of these walls was preserved and thoughtfully integrated into the interior
NOW
In the main hall, a wall in the shade of melted butter sets the toneAt the entrance, we placed a cloakroom area built from a metal frame with ribbed glass and heavy sand-coloured curtains inside.
The colour scheme is built around warm cream and beige tones, complemented by sky blue and orange-yellow accents
The entrance also features an open kitchen, a sky-blue counter for storage and merchandise display, a mirror in a metal frame, and the doorway to the restroom
One of the original brick walls was preserved and painted in a warm white, while a uniform creamy tone was chosen for the floor
The bar counter is finished in a warm milky shade matching the floor, with the menu suspended above it in metal frames
Most of the pieces were either custom-made or sourced through a local resale platform. Particular attention was given to the merchandise stands and the sky-blue stools made of recycled plastic, which became the visual accents of the space
The interior brings together natural wood with elements made of recycled plastic
The project’s lead designer, Shushana, is seated on the sofa by the far brick wall Next to the sofa, we placed metal side tables and poufs made of recycled plastic
To the left stands a shelving unit for bookcrossing and book sales
The design team is especially fond of the quirky blue chairs with a cow print in shades of blue and pale pinkWe also designed blocks made of wood and recycled plastic panels — they serve as displays for products and merchandise, but have also become a favourite with children, who love to sit on them and climb over them
In the restroom, the plaster is complemented by metallic silhouettes of little stars and spinning tops, one of which later became the café’s logo
