The CAMPER store in the leafy downtown district of Eixample in Barcelona has been there for a couple of years, but as of last month, a new retail concept has been inaugurated in tandem with a brand new interior by local designer Max Enrich. The expansive floor-to-ceiling glass façade has been retained, revealing an immersion of lacquered birch wood, capturing the entire ground floor, including floor, walls and ceiling. The elongated space has the feel of a shoe box and sees backlit tiered shelving all around, crafted from stainless steel. Two sizeable fibreglass volumes take centre stage, serving as both seating and additional display units. A small sales counter sits right next to the entrance, while a storage and recessed display space sits right next to the staircase leading to the CAMPER store’s mezzanine floor.

The latter is clad in a bright blue, fluffy fabric which not only covers what’s underfoot, but it also extends almost halfway up the walls and the balustrade to create an immersive visual effect. Lighting comprises of a configuration compact ceiling sconces, crafted from metal, which can be found on both floors, while an undulating metal ring with light spots attached hovers over the sales counter. As said, the renewed CAMPER store also boasts a new concept, meaning that the ground floor presents CAMPER‘s regular shoe collection, while the mezzanine floor is entirely dedicated to CAMPERLAB, the avant-garde spin-off line of shoes, apparel, bags and accessories, also designed by CAMPER‘s Finnish-born creative director Achilles Ion Gabriel. © superfuture
