The Douro41 Hotel & Spa is a design hotel located in Vista Alegre, in the town of Castelo de Paiva.

Situated on kilometer 41 of the Douro River (from its mouth), the hotel is literally at the river’s feet, anchored in the terraces along its banks, offering unique views of its bends and the boats which meander down them.

With 55 rooms and 6 suites, the hotel features modern, minimalist lines, a combination of natural light and contemporary design, neutral tones and an architecture which enhances the Douro River’s beauty.

Following renovation work and the completion of new areas, featuring interior design by Cristina Jorge de Carvalho and the architecture of Serôdio, Furtado & Associados, DHM – Discovery Hotel Management is reopening yet another unit to the north, where the brand’s innovative concept can be clearly seen. Along with attention to the design, the service and the restaurant sector, the purpose of the hotel’s concept is to combine informality, sophistication and creativity with elements of local culture to provide a captivating Douro experience through the senses and in harmony with the natural environment.

The panoramic Raiva Restaurant and the À Terra Bar & Canteen are two of the hotel’s latest novelties. At the Raiva, with a 140-seat capacity, the region’s cuisine finds room for interpreting some of its most authentic and emblematic flavors. The À Terra Bar & Canteen is part of the “À Terra” brand, already found at other DHM hotels, featuring the farm-to-table concept with shared dishes, rustic homemade food and creative cocktails.

The Douro41 Spa is another main attraction, with a team of specialized therapists, a fresh approach to treatment, properly outfitted rooms, an indoor panoramic swimming pool and a hydrotherapy circuit.

The hotel also has two panoramic swimming pools, a gym, movie theatre, meeting room, parking and a lobby market, together with its own docks which can anchor 26 vessels, making it a waypoint or departure point for discovering the Douro’s waters.

In view of its setting above the Douro River and its geographic location, the Douro41 Hotel & Spa also offers enriching experiences for guests, including boat rides, water sports, cultural tours, hiking, wine tasting and discovering the famous Paiva Walkways.
