Conceived as a secret retreat in the heart of Oaxaca, just steps from the main square, Hotel Sin Nombre combines the intimacy of a home with the personalized attention of a boutique hotel. This haven renews its history while preserving the equation that defines it: sober architecture, living art, and hospitality rooted in calm. The restoration, carried out by RootStudio, restructured arches and columns, and added a glass dome that allows light to enter over the course of the day, creating a tranquil journey through courtyards and shadows. This new chapter enhances the hotel’s character and its vocation for warm hospitality, reaffirming its character as a space in dialogue with the city through serenity and balance.

建筑改造在尊重原有精髓的同时，使其自然过渡到当代语境之中——拱顶天花、百年铁艺、石灰粉刷墙面与克制的色彩构成了空间的基调，强调材质与比例之美，而非装饰的繁复。客房延续这种温暖的极简主义：热带木材、纯净织物与哑光石材在从穹顶倾泻而下的光线中彼此对话。流线经过重新调整，以保持整体的安静节奏——清晰地连接露台与公共空间，使整个宅邸如同在均匀呼吸。从屋顶俯瞰，圣多明戈教堂与大教堂的穹顶浮现，提醒着人们归属的意义：酒店凝视着瓦哈卡，而瓦哈卡亦拥抱着它。

The architectural intervention preserves the building’s essence while bringing it into the present: vaulted ceilings, centuries-old ironwork, whitewashed walls, and a restrained palette that highlights textures and proportions without excess. The rooms embrace warm minimalism, where tropical woods, crisp textiles, and matte-finished stone engage in dialogue with the light descending from the central dome. Circulations have been adjusted to preserve silence, with clear routes between terraces and communal areas, allowing the entire house to breathe with a uniform rhythm. From above, Santo Domingo and the Cathedral emerge as reminders of belonging: the hotel contemplates Oaxaca, and Oaxaca embraces it.

At Hotel Sin Nombre, art is experienced as part of life rather than mere ornament. Moving around the space, photography by Alberto “Negro” Ibáñez occupies rooms and corridors; graphic design and signage by Carlito Dalceggio engage with walls and functional items; and metal sculptures by Fulvio Capurso outline the skyline from the terrace. Beneath the staircase, the Bibliotekita by Elliott Coon invites an intimate pause among mirrors and neon, while occasional collaborations—such as that of Dr. Lakra at Cantinita—revitalize the pulse of each season. Everything coexists naturally with the architecture, as if it had always belonged there.

The hotel’s rooftop becomes a space designed for leisure and contemplation: open to the city’s domes and surrounding valleys, shaded by native vegetation and bamboo that filter light and refresh the air. Within this setting, the terrace pool becomes a central point of relaxation and reflection facing the landscape. Every detail is conceived to elevate the everyday—whether through a strategically placed chair or the shade arriving at just the right moment.
