Preface.

屿设计，一家开在上海徐汇的设计工作室，取名“屿”是因为我们把家比作令人心安/温暖的岛屿，为客户设计心安温暖的家是小屿的目标，也是创立初衷。

Yu Design, an interior studio based in Xuhui, Shanghai. It is named "Yu" because we compare the home to an island of peace and warmth, and designing a peaceful and warm home for our clients is the goal of Yu Design and the reason why it was founded in the first place.

01 屿设计的独白

A Monologue of Yu Design

我们选址在宜山路地铁口附近的一座写字楼，这里有不少家居设计的同行，合作很多，竞争也不少，相比同行，我们给自己凝练了四大服务理念：“更耐心的倾听，更真诚的服务，更专业的建议，更合乎心意的住宅设计“。工作室作为实体招牌，如何体现屿的理念传递温暖成为了本次改造的核心。

We chose a location in an office building near the YiShan Road subway entrance, where there are many home design peers and a lot of cooperation and competition. Compared with our peers, we have condensed four major service concepts for ourselves: "more patient listening, more sincere service, more professional advice, and more in line with the heart of the residential design". The studio as a tangible signboard, how to reflect the concept of Yu design to convey warmth has become the core of this remodeling.

02 户型改造的构思

这是座圆形写字楼，我们的办公室是个套内80平的扇形空间，仅靠一面墙采光，原户型的空间划分弱化了采光，导致入户拥挤，空间昏暗，从体验上来说不符合我们的预期。

This is a circular office building and our office is an 80 square foot fan space within the suite. With only one wall of light, the original floor plan did not divide the space well, resulting in a crowded entryway and a dimly lit space that did not meet our expectations from an experiential standpoint.

优化采光是改造的第一要点，我们先把能拆的都拆了，剩下的管道和圆柱都是不能动的。接着运用“前虚后实”的手法，把扇形空间分为前厅后厅，前厅沿用户外庭院的概念，依次植入Q形盒子/展示区/小屿办公区和水吧区，地面是水泥浇筑的石板路，角落里填入植被，瓦片，竹枝和石缸；后厅则延用前厅的海洋板元素，定制温馨的独立办公区和玻璃洽谈区。受圆形建筑和圆柱的启发，提炼弧形元素，附加利用，呈现一个柔美温和的空间。

Optimizing lighting was the first point of the remodel, and we started by removing everything we could, leaving the remaining pipes and columns untouched. Then, we divided the fan-shaped space into the front hall and the back hall. The front hall follows the concept of an outdoor courtyard, with a Q-shaped box/exhibition area/Yu office area and a water bar area in turn, with a cemented flagstone floor and corners filled with vegetation, floor tiles, bamboo branches and stone tanks; the back hall extends the birch marine panel elements of the front hall, with a customized independent office area and a glass negotiation area. Inspired by circular architecture and columns, the curved elements are refined and utilized to create a soft space.

新入口有3米宽，通顶的炫彩玻璃，一分为二，左侧玻璃固定，右侧植入中轴门，热情欢迎每一个访客。 

The new entrance is 3 meters wide, with stained glass running through the roof, the left side of the glass is fixed and the right side is implanted with a central axial door, welcoming every visitor.

我们希望工作室忙时能接待两至三组客户，闲时空间具有观赏性，所以在前厅入户处设计了Q形盒子接待区。这是一个由水泥和海洋板打造的圆形卡座，卡座的45度处嵌入了一个方形盒子，用于枯枝造景，形似Q故命名Q形盒子。它的右侧是壁炉展示区，展示一些精心挑选后的材料样品。

We hope the studio to be able to receive two to three groups of clients when it is busy, and to have an ornamental space when it is not, so we designed a Q-Box reception area at the entrance of the front hall. This is a round card table made of cement and birch marine panel, with a square box embedded at 45 degrees for dead branches, which resembles a Q, hence the name Q-Box. On the right side of it is a fireplace display area, showing some carefully selected material samples.

白木拼接的弧形墙柜刚好遮住管道，搭配小幅画框更具观赏性。

为了让前厅共享到后厅的光，洽谈区采用玻璃做隔断，内部墙面和地面都用了桦木海洋板，暖暖的木色给人一种家的包裹感。

In order to share light between the front and back rooms, the negotiation area is partitioned with glass, and the interior walls and floors are made of birch marine panel, with warm wood colors giving a sense of home wrapping around the room.

独立办公区与前厅有着隐而疏的关系，与办公位视线齐平的白墙上有一列玻璃端景，一个个圆洞让光影和视线在这逗留，穿梭，多一份互动，多一份松弛。

The independent office area has a hidden but sparse relationship with the front hall. The white wall flush with the sight line of the office space has a column of glass end views, a round hole for light and shadow and sight to linger and weave in and out, with a little more interaction and a little more relaxation.

我们选择艺术涂料/桦木海洋板打造一个温暖富有肌理的空间，选择无边框筒灯/软膜天花/线性灯带营造明亮富有层次的照明效果，选择玻璃/镜面/石头点缀空间的无名角落。

We chose art paint/birch marine panel to create a warm and textured space, recess light/soft film membrane smallpox/linear strip to create a bright and layered lighting effect, and glass/mirror/stone to embellish the nameless corners of the space.
