:向外生长,在公共与非公共之间
Growing outward, between public and non-public

时隔7年,再次坐在Ladésee工作室外时,樱花依旧,如云如霞,娇艳烂漫。更新后的工作室已然投入使用,在互动中慢慢褪去刚开始的生涩,显露出温柔、平和、饱满的气质。
新的空间在生长,在变化。而不变的,是樱花树,以及早上的福堤路。
早上的福堤路沿河岸一侧,满是市集小贩应接不暇的热闹场景:应季蔬菜、新鲜水果、地道山货、南北干杂、地摊小吃,应有尽有。从这个被抬高的户外区域望过去,街道那边的市井与日常,近在耳畔,几乎很难不被这蓬勃的生活气息所感染;但樱花树与矮墙下的花境又把这些气息疏隔开,仿若屏障,也因此给了内心一份可以不被打扰的闲适。
阳光满地,樱花树将影子斑驳地洒落下来,鸟雀鸣啾,清脆动人。昆明这座城市的立体性似乎就在这一瞬间里全部展开。他人的、自我的、自然万物的,层次分明地叠印在一起,相互交织,彼此照应,却又各安其好。
是什么维持了内心的秩序?是什么让对日常的怀念一并驻留?又是什么试探着公共性与非公共性之间的弹性而不逾矩?或许,答案并不重要,专业性的空间解读也不重要。重要的是我们能在这里感受,经由身体与直觉,诚挚地将不可思议的疑问逐一捕捉。

After 7 years, when I sat outside Ladésee's studio again, the cherry blossoms were still as colorful as the clouds. The renewed studio has been put into use, slowly fading away the rawness of the beginning in the interaction, revealing a gentle, calm and full temperament.
The space is growing and changing. What remains unchanged are the cherry blossom trees and the Fukuti Road in the morning.
In the morning, along the bank of the Boat House River, Fudi Road is filled with the bustling scene of market vendors: seasonal vegetables, fresh fruits, local mountain products, northern and southern dried food, and snacks from stalls, all of which are available. Looking from this elevated outdoor area, the daily life on the other side of the street are so close that it is almost hard not to be infected by the atmosphere; however, the cherry blossom trees and the mini-garden under the low wall separate these scents as if they were barriers, and thus give the heart an undisturbed idleness.
The sunlight is full, the cherry blossom trees shed their shadows dappled down, and the birds chirp, crisp and moving. The three-dimensionality of the city of Kunming seems to unfold in this moment. Other people's, self's and nature's things are clearly overlaid together, intertwined and responding to each other, but each in its own way.
What maintains the inner order? What makes the nostalgia for the everyday? And what tries to explore the elasticity between the public and the non-public without exceeding the rules? Perhaps the answer is not important, nor is the professional interpretation of the space. What is important is that we can feel, through our bodies and intuition, and sincerely capture the incredible questions one by one.

更新,迭代,生命力的复苏
Renewal, Iteration, Revival of Vitality
在空间更新之前,我们可能需要明确一个最基本的问题,即,空间更新的目的是什么?
也许,大部分时候,空间更新的目的并不在于某种空间视觉的“美化”,而是(且应该是)通过对空间结构的重新梳理,合理化空间与新的功能需求之间的关联,建立起更为良好的整体性与秩序感。除此之外,它也不单单是一次空间产品化的自我迭代,它还应被寄予厚望,成为一次将过去痕迹再次编写进此时此刻的生命复苏。
Before updating a space, we may need to clarify a basic question: what is the purpose of updating a space?
Perhaps, most of the time, the purpose of space renewal is not to “beautify” the space visually, but rather, it is (and should be) to create a better sense of wholeness and order by reorganizing the structure of the space, rationalizing the space with the new functional needs. In addition, it is not just an iteration of spatial productization, but is also expected to be a revival of the past into the here and now.
Ladésee工作室是一个三层附加两个夹层的临街小独栋。这一次的更新将它从过去的纯工作室状态,转变为包含咖啡、展厅、办公等功能的小复合单体,赋予了它更加灵活、多元且开放的特性。
从空间解剖学的角度来看,它是一个由一系列节奏不等的台阶或楼梯,组织起来的空间。过去如此,现在依然如此。在垂直和水平方向上的空间延伸,都隐藏在这些台阶和楼梯的形态当中。它们让空间既向“上”垂直迁跃,也向“内”水平开放。

Ladésee Studio is a three-storey building with two mezzanine floors on the street. It has been transformed from a pure studio to a small composite monolith containing functions such as a café, a gallery, and an office, giving it flexible, diversified, and open.
From the point of view of spatial anatomy, it is a space organized by a series of steps or staircases with varying rhythms. This was and still is the case. The vertical and horizontal extension is hidden in the form of these steps and stairs. They allow the space to move both upward vertically and inward horizontally.
Yet, incredibly, the renewed space, on the one hand, completely inherits the basic architecture of the previous space, and on the other hand, completely changes the way the space interacts with people. Like the same set of DNA genes, two very different states of life are produced at different stages.

拾级,跋涉,在树影之下
Up the steps, trekking, under the shadow
临街入口是一截略显陡峭的户外台阶,充当着花园小径的功能,将人们从樱花树下引向入户的方向。台阶一侧的花境以青石、苔藓和林荫植物为主,增加静谧的氛围,以及森林的潮湿气息。
拾级而上。阳光倾泻的台阶,鼓励着身体的灵动。这里有雀跃的潜能,因为这里有对自然山径小路最朴素的模仿。
The entrance is a slightly steep outdoor step that functions as a garden path, leading people from under the cherry blossom tree to the entryway. The mini-garden on one side of the steps is dominated by bluestones, mosses and shade plants, adding to the tranquil atmosphere and the moist scent of the forest.
Up the steps. The sunlight pouring down the steps encourages physical agility. There is potential for freckling here, as there is the most rustic imitation of a natural mountain trail path.
被吸引,往往需要一段小小的跋涉与距离。平台在台阶顶端展开,低矮的围栏界定出边界。依然是在樱花树下。可以小憩,可以看作是室内外的过渡地带。它既是临时性的,又可以依赖的;既是公共的,又确保着一定的私密性。
而进一步使得进入室内变得不那么迫切的,还有以窗景的方式大大敞开的深木色咖啡吧台。室内与室外在这里完成了视觉上的交互。与此同时,延伸向外的吧台在颜色上与浅暖色的外墙形成一定的反差,增强了树影下的明暗对比,却又在质地上以原木的温度补偿着阴翳下的静谧与安宁。
Being drawn in often requires a small trek and distance. The platform unfolds at the top of the steps, with a low fence defining the boundary. Still under the cherry blossom trees. It is possible to take a break, to see it as a transition zone between indoors and outdoors. It is both temporary and dependable; public and yet ensures a certain privacy.
What further makes entering the interior less urgent is the dark wood coffee bar that is greatly opened up in the form of a window view. The visual interaction between the interior and the exterior is completed. At the same time, the color of the bar extends outward to form a certain contrast with the light warm wall, enhancing the contrast between light and dark under the shadow of the trees, but compensating for the quietness and tranquility under the shade with the warmth of the logs in terms of texture.

On the first floor of the studio, nestled into a small coffee shop, reveals an understated and loosely open gesture to the outside world.
实际上,咖啡区域所在的一楼只占据空间的前半部分,类似于玄关或者中庭,只是在尺度上被放大了。除了咖啡操作台,这里另设有两处可以小坐的角落。一处在入口的位置,门的方向就是光和视野的方向;一处在咖啡吧台开窗的正对面,正好处在一楼咖啡区域的中轴线上。
一楼的后半部分被一堵矮墙所分隔,通过地面下沉和抬升,形成一个半地下空间和一个夹层空间。矮墙虽矮,但墙面的处理却模仿了一种户外立面的做法。即,在退与进的过程中,形成一个低矮的出檐。檐口下方是一个长而窄的条形孔洞,视线由此被打开,可以穿透至地下层。檐口上方则自然形成了一排置物陈列的台面,既丰富了咖啡区域的层次与细节,又与上半部分夹层空间的围栏形成了退台式的衔接关系。
In fact, the first floor, where the coffee area is located, occupies only the first half of the space, similar to a foyer or atrium, but enlarged in scale. In addition to the coffee counter, there are two other corners where you can have a seat. One is at the entrance, where the direction of the door is the direction of light and vision; the other is directly opposite the window of the coffee bar, right o
n the axis of the coffee area on the first floor.
The back part of the first floor is separated by
a short wall, which is sunk and raised to form a semi-subterranean space and a mezzanine space. Although the partition wall is short, the treatment of the wall mimics an outdoor façade. That is, a low gable is formed as it recedes and enters. Below the gable is a long, narrow, barred aperture from which the view is opened up to penetrate to the basement level. Above the gable is a natural row of countertops for storage and display, which not only enriches the layers and details of the coffee area, but also creates a retreating relationship with the fence of the upper part of the mezzanine space.

开敞,停留,不被定义的主理人客厅

穿过咖啡区域,在尽头处转角,往上几个台阶,就是一楼上半部分的夹层空间。
这是进可向外、退可安守的区域,也是光线明暗与空间深浅的关系得到淋漓尽致展现的区域。
它与咖啡区域共享着同一个天花顶面。它向上抬升,却又在水平面上极尽开敞,一方面
补偿着垂直方向上因挤压所带来的紧张感,另一方面则
与有着挑空的咖啡区形成对照,丰富着因尺度变化带来的
身体感受
。
空间视野开敞,前后通达。可以越过沙发边的矮墙,俯瞰整个咖啡区与入口;可以在后窗边,信赖般地独守那一抹对昆明而言再寻常不过的绿影。总之,在这里,
视野的停留与穿透,无论远近,都可以得到妥当地安放。
Passing through the coffee area, at the end of the corner, a few steps up, is the mezzanine space of the upper part of the first floor.
This is the area where you can go in and out, and where the relationship between light and darkness and the depth of the space can be shown to the fullest. It shares the same ceiling with the coffee area. It is upwardly elevated and yet extremely open on the horizontal plane, compensating for the tension brought about by the compression in the vertical direction on the one hand, and on the other hand, contrasting with the café area that has a high ceiling height, enriching the physical sensation brought about by the change in scale.
The space is open and accessible from front to back. You can overlook the entire coffee area and the entrance from the low wall beside the sofa, or you can trust the green shadow, which is very common to Kunming, from the back window. All in all, the view can be properly placed to stay and penetrate, no matter near or far.
从空间功能上来说,这里是主理人杨永娟的办公区域兼私人客厅。它延伸了咖啡区域的部分社交属性,但也有着明显的从开放向私密转化的倾向。
与咖啡区域相比,这里鼓励一种更亲密、更近距离的人际互动关系。因为随着空间
重心有意识地下压,人们在其中的行为、语言、互动交流方式也变得更具耐心且温和。而大量中古沙发与欧洲设计师家具的入驻,赋予了空间以缓缓流淌的时间感,使得一种重要的关于“个人气质”的氛围在这里凝聚起来。它携带着私人的审美偏好,它变得不那么容易被定义,它在有限的向外链接中,试图以一种更具亲和的方式确立着自我的存在。
Functionally speaking, this is the office area and private living room of the main manager, Yang Yongjuan. It extends some of the social attributes of the coffee area, but also has a clear tendency to transform from openness to privacy.
Compared with the coffee area, this place encourages a more intimate and closer interpersonal interaction. As the gravity of the space is consciously subdued, people's behavior, language and interaction in it become more patient and gentle. The presence of a large number of antique sofas and European designer furniture gives the space a sense of gently flowing time, allowing an important atmosphere of “personal temperament” to coalesce here. It carries private aesthetic preferences, it becomes less easy to be defined, and it tries to establish its own existence in a more intimate way with limited outward links.

灵感,实验,女性时装独立展厅

如果说,从咖啡区到主理人客厅,都还无法真正获知这是一个关于什么的工作室的话,那么,再上一层楼,答案就变得一目了然了。
这是一个包含中央沙发座区、服装与配饰陈列区、试衣区的服装展厅。尽管就展厅功能的发挥而言,空间在面积上并没有太大优势。但也因此,它有别于shopping mall里售卖展厅的面面俱到和琳琅满目。它足够从容、慵懒,它保留着大量的空间间距和留白,暗示了它具备可以接纳不同的展陈方式和多元内容的潜力。
If it wasn't enough to really get a sense of what this is a studio about, from the coffee area to the living room of the main manager. Then, going up one more floor, the answer becomes readily apparent.
This is a clothing showroom that includes a central sofa seating area, a clothing and accessory display area, and a fitting area. Although in terms of showroom, it doesn't have much to offer in terms of area. But that's why it's different from a shopping mall showroom. It is relaxed and languid, with plenty of spacing, hinting at its potential to accommodate different display styles and diverse content.
将展厅区域安排在私密度更高的动线后端,实在是一个不寻常的做法,它牺牲了常规展厅空间应有的公共性,增加了空间到达的成本和难度。但另一方面,它也让展厅变成了工作室内部的实验空间,成为了设计灵感与头脑风暴的第一现场。如,每个季度的新品会第一时间在这里出现,经典设计的每一次迭代也会在这里展出,实验性的、限量设计的、半成品的灵感也将在这里得到充分的讨论与验证。

Arranging the showroom area at the back end of the dynamic line with higher privacy density is really an unusual practice, which sacrifices the public nature that a regular showroom space should have and increases the cost and difficulty of reaching the space. But on the other hand, it also makes the showroom become an experimental space inside the studio, and the first site of design inspiration and brainstorming. For example, the new products of each season will be the first to appear here, every iteration of classic designs will be exhibited here, and experimental, limited design and semi-finished product inspirations will be fully discussed and verified here.
Here, the identity of the fashion designer will be highlighted. Stay sensitive, stay in touch with art, materials, and material information. Whether it is sewing or painting, whether it is the intense busyness before the release of a new season's product, or sketching outside the window on a whim in the spare time, this is the independent temperament that this space has gained only because it is not fully open.

向外,向内,在公共与非公共之间

灵活性与多场景兼容的特性,一直贯穿着整个工作室,向外敞开与向内探索共同塑造着空间的活力。
半地下的负一层也是如此,甚至是向外与向内两个方向上最典型的力量的平衡。它不但与咖啡区相连,与整个空间入口也保持着直接且近距离的关系,但它又在楼梯下达之后保留了一个柱体式的阻隔,使得真正的进入需要一点点面对光线昏暗的决心和勇气。而这,就是对内部空间完整性和独立性的有效保证。
Flexibility and multi-scenario compatibility have always been present throughout the studio, with outward openness and inward exploration working together to shape the dynamism of the space.
This is also the case with the semi-subterranean negative floor, which is even the most typical balance of forces in both outward and inward directions. It is not only connected to the coffee area, but also maintains a direct and close relationship with the entire entrance of the space, yet it retains a columnar barrier after the staircase descends, making the real entry require a little bit of determination and courage to face the dim light. This, in turn, is an effective guarantee of the integrity and independence of the interior space.
任何简单而基础的空间,都具有包容性的特征。因为不予以明确的空间定义,赋予了它在使用过程中的高度自由。
对于负一层这个主体区域由一张长桌以及一列靠墙的操作柜台组成的空间而言,它可以是餐厅,因为它与厨房相连;也可以是临时的工作坊,因为它有一定的独立性;更是绝佳的阅读区,因为它有宽敞的桌面。它生动的展示了空间的各种可能,并通过与咖啡区上下的互望,让内与外的关系变得柔软而透明。
Any simple and basic space is characterized by inclusiveness. The absence of a clear definition of the space gives it a high degree of freedom in its use.
For this space on the negative floor, where the main area consists of a long table and a row of operating counters against the wall, it can be a dining room because it is connected to the kitchen, a temporary workshop because it has a certain degree of independence, and an excellent reading area because of its spacious table top. It vividly demonstrates the various possibilities of the space and makes the relationship between inside and outside soft and transparent by looking up and down with the coffee area.

In this field of clothing design, which requires creativity, it is always curious and exploratory, to experience, to observe, to feel, and to grasp every tiny moment of life with action.
