钱学森图书馆由国家投资兴建，于2011年12月11日钱学森诞辰百年之际在上海交通大学徐汇校区建成开馆。这是一座方鼎式的赭红色建筑，外形简洁、庄重，远看恰似戈壁滩中的风蚀岩，体现了“大地情怀、石破天惊”的设计理念。钱学森图书馆总用地面积9,300平方米，总建筑面积8,188平方米，地下一层，地上三层，陈展面积约3,000余平方米。馆藏6.2万余件/套，主要为钱学森的文稿、书信、奖章、证书、剪报、照片及生活用品等，已被鉴定为等级文物有1万余件/套，国家一级文物25件/套。开馆以来，钱馆先后获评全国爱国主义教育示范基地、全国科普教育基地、全国中小学生研学实践教育基地、首批“大思政课”实践教学基地、首批科学家精神教育基地等多项国家级荣誉称号。2024年5月，钱学森图书馆获评国家一级博物馆。钱学森图书馆基本陈列“人民科学家钱学森”以弘扬钱学森“爱国、奉献、求实、创新、协同、育人”的科学家精神和“两弹一星”精神为主题。展览以大量珍贵的文献实物为依托，通过揭示钱学森身上鲜明的爱国主义精神、严谨的科学态度和崇高的精神品格，展现一位战略科学家和伟大爱国者的鲜活形象。

Funded by the state, Qian Xuesen Library & Museum opened at Shanghai Jiao Tong University's Xuhui Campus on December 11, 2011, marking Qian Xuesen's centenary. The 8,188-square-meter terracotta building features a square-cauldron design that resembles Gobi Desert rock formations, symbolizing "earth-inspired vision and groundbreaking innovation".

With three above-ground floors and one basement across a 9,300-square-meter site, it houses over 62,000 artifacts including manuscripts, awards, and personal items. The collection contains 10,000 classified cultural relics, 25 of which are National Grade-One treasures.

Recognized as both a National First-Class Museum (2024) and a National Patriotic Education Base, its flagship exhibition "Qian Xuesen: The Scientist of the People" showcases his legacy of his ethos of "patriotism, dedication, pragmatism, innovation, collaboration, and mentorship" alongside the "Two Bombs, One Satellite" spirit through rare documents that reveal his dual role as visionary researcher and dedicated patriot.

钱学森图书馆于2025年5月1日以全新的姿态焕新归来，再次与公众见面。改造升级后的钱学森图书馆，在保持原有陈列框架的基础上，对展览内容、形式设计和技术应用进行了创新与提升，突出具有更高陈列价值的亮点展品，提升观赏性、教育性、互动性和感染力让“人民科学家钱学森”这一社会形象深扎公众心中。

The Qian Xuesen Library & Museum reopened to the public on May 1, 2025, transformed through comprehensive renovations while faithfully preserving its original exhibition framework. The upgraded institution now features significant innovations in content curation, spatial design, and technological applications, with special emphasis on exhibits of exceptional historical and educational value. Through enhanced aesthetic presentation, deeper educational content, interactive experiences, and emotionally resonant displays, these improvements powerfully reinforce "Qian Xuesen, the Scientist of the People" as an enduring icon in the public imagination.

钱学森图书馆基本陈列增加123件/套，其中新展出国家一级文物22件/套，

同时采用展品组合与场景搭建，让观众直接与文物对话，还原钱学森不同时代、身份背景下的精神底色。

The Qian Xuesen Library & Museum has augmented its basic exhibition with 123 additional artifacts (including 22 newly unveiled Grade-1 national treasures). These additions enhance the presentation of Qian Xuesen's major achievements, academic philosophy, personal integrity, and path to success across four thematic sections: "Founder of China's Aerospace Industry," "Pioneer in the Frontier of Science and Technology," "Feature and Manner of a People's Scientist," and "Key to Success of a Strategic Scientist." 

Employing curated artifact groupings and contextual scenography, the exhibition enables direct engagement between visitors and historical relics, revealing the essence of Qian's spirit across different eras and roles.

About Academician Qian Xuesen

Mr. Qian Xuesen is an outstanding and committed member of the Communist Party of China, a great scientist widely recognized as the founding father of China's aerospace program, a senior academician of both the Chinese Academy of Sciences and Engineering, and Vice Chairman of the 6th, 7th, 8th National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC). Qian was one of the founders of modern mechanics in China. He advocated the theoretical and applied researches on systems engineering, made invaluable contributions to the launch and development of rocketry, missiles and space programs in China, and pioneered in many fields including aerodynamics, aviation engineering, jet propulsion, engineering cybernetics, physical mechanics.

The exhibition hall's design philosophy integrates "scientific precision, methodological rigor, and intellectual clarity" throughout its spatial narrative. Light-toned wall surfaces establish a contemporary ambiance of disciplined elegance. To complement the serially displayed archival photographs and systematically curated information panels, AKZU's Tracron series museum track lights provide uniform and consistent wall-washing illumination. Primary heading content is accentuated with accent lighting, while flexible adjustment of fixture angles achieves precise lighting arrangement and a stratified presentation effect.

The lighting fixtures serve not merely to illuminate the space but also to define the stylistic essence of the museum's exhibition environment. For the distinctive ceiling design in the second exhibition hall, AKZU specially developed customized extended-rod Tracron Q4 museum track lights with monopoint track installation. These fixtures precisely highlight key artifacts with focused beams while simultaneously creating ambient background lighting through wall-washing effects. This masterful integration of primary and accent lighting not only perfectly presents the exhibits' details but also fully conveys the cultural significance and artistic style of the exhibition.

The preservation of cultural relics is the foremost consideration in museum exhibition lighting design. To meet the lighting requirements for classified artifacts in the Qian Xuesen Library & Museum's collection, AKZU strictly follows conservation principles by employing its Sprite series showcase lights,  which offer precise optical control, high luminous efficiency, excellent color rendering, and premium light quality. The compact and slim fixtures are scientifically positioned and adjusted to deliver accurate illumination. Their delicate, soft yet pure and transparent beams clearly and naturally reveal the three-dimensional forms and precious details of the artifacts.

Since the exhibits within display cases vary significantly in form, partial lighting primarily adopts the wide table-washing illumination of AKZU's Sprite X11 museum table showcase lights to evenly illuminate the exhibits. With their extremely slim 1cm-wide profile and freely adjustable light emission angles, combined with T-shaped bridge mounts, Sprite X11 perfectly address the shortcomings of conventional door-shaped lights. Paired with light-blocking wings, they achieve "zero glare" showcase illumination while coordinating the brightness contrast between exhibits, graphic panels, and ambient lighting, thereby highlighting the distinctive characteristics of each exhibit.

The third exhibition hall in the museum uses multiple scene recreations to vividly present Academician Qian Xuesen's patriotic spirit, scientific qualities, and lofty spiritual realm. These scene recreations are not just static displays but aim to immerse visitors in the environment. For this purpose, all exhibit lighting employs accent lighting, creating a sense of spatial hierarchy through precise brightness adjustment while effectively avoiding direct illumination and strong reflections. This approach faithfully reproduces the colors of exhibits and highlights their textures and details, ultimately creating a comfortable and engaging viewing experience for visitors.

This exhibition hall showcases meticulously reproduced facsimiles of Academician Qian Xuesen's handwritten correspondence, illuminated by Dux A5 Fine Art Projectors to preserve the authentic nuance of these historic manuscripts. Equipped with high-lux precision optical lenses and aperture-controlled imaging technology, the Dux A5 dynamically generates contour-matched rectangular beam profiles with specially softened edges to harmonize with the projector's lighting effect, rendering every ink stroke in consistently pure illumination. Through these unadorned prose, visitors glimpse Qian Xuesen's stoic indifference to fame and fortune—such intellectual nobility that irrevocably validates his legacy as "The Scientist of the People".

第四展厅主要揭示钱学森院士的学习与成长历程，以及他作为一位战略科学家的成功之道。展厅内，一个专门陈列钱老毕生参阅书籍的展柜，选用了Tracron M3L博物馆近距离线性洗墙照明系统，精密设计的光学系统使洗墙效果达到上下磅礴贯通，水平连续均匀，且灯具高度仅为7.9厘米，与展陈空间浑然一体，让观众得以沉浸于清晰呈现的书籍细节之中，获得更佳的视觉体验。

The fourth exhibition hall focuses on revealing Academician Qian Xuesen's learning and growth journey, as well as his success principles as a strategic scientist. In this hall, a special display case exhibiting the books Qian studied throughout his life employs the Tracron M3L museum close-range linear wall-wash lighting system. The precisely designed optical system creates a wall-washing effect that achieves complete vertical coverage and uniform horizontal continuity. With fixtures measuring only 7.9cm in height, the lighting blends perfectly with the exhibition space, allowing visitors to immerse themselves in clearly presented book details and enjoy an optimal visual experience.
