Opened to the public in 2025, the Yujiashan Archaeological Museum spans approximately 25,000 square meters. Its design concept, "Jade Links the Past, Structure Echoes Mountains", is realized through a pure white stone-paneled facade with open joints, subtly evoking mountain silhouettes. The architecture harmonizes artistic expression with archaeological significance, blending seamlessly into the natural landscape of the Yujiashan Site.
The museum houses four permanent exhibition halls and combines display spaces with academic learning programs, cultural exchange zones, and research facilities. It meticulously preserves and presents key archaeological findings from the site, including settlement moats, tombs, and ash pits (refuse pits). As a specialized institution, it is dedicated to the collection, research, and public education of settlement patterns during the Liangzhu Culture period.
Covering 10.3 hectares, Yujiashan Archaeological Park comprises six moat-enclosed sections with 646 Liangzhu Culture burials, 11 architectural remains, and over 8,000 artifacts spanning all phases of the culture across nearly a millennium. This site provides critical evidence for studying Liangzhu's social structure, belief systems, and early state formation. Recognized as a "Top Ten Archaeological Discoveries of China" (2011), it was designated a Zhejiang Provincial Cultural Heritage Site (2017) and listed among Zhejiang's third batch of Provincial Archaeological Parks (2022).

Linping Site Cluster Hall
The Linping Site Cluster Hall presents a coherent prehistoric societal panorama spanning 7,000 to 4,000 years through extensive artifacts. As a high-ranking regional center of Liangzhu Culture around Lake Tai, this cluster comprises over 20 discovered sites—including Yujiashan (a moat-enclosed settlement), Maoshan, Sanmuli, the elite Hengshan Cemetery, and the commoner Houtoushan Cemetery—demonstrating a hierarchically organized settlement network with distinct functions.
Jade held profound ritual and spiritual significance in Liangzhu Culture. The display of ceremonial artifacts—including jade cong tubes, iconic deity-beast motifs, and dragon-shaped jades—epitomizes its cohesive belief system and shared cultural identity. These objects offer visitors insights into the spiritual cosmology and enduring legacy of Liangzhu society.

Maoshan Site Hall
The Maoshan Site Exhibition Hall showcases the evolution of civilization in the Maoshan village across the Ma'jiabang, Songze, Liangzhu, and Guangfulin Culture periods. Over 6,000 years ago, the early inhabitants lived in dugout houses, crafted tools for daily use, and adorned themselves with ornaments for joy. By over 5,000 years ago, a vibrant scene of Jiangnan water-town life unfolded at the foot of Maoshan: a single canoe glided lightly across the water, startling birds and fish; wind stirred waves across the rice fields, while cooking smoke curled over village rooftops. Finally, around 4,000 years ago, a catastrophic flood brought the story of Maoshan village to a close.

Yujiashan Site Hall
The Yujiashan site is the only settlement discovered to date that spans the entire trajectory of the Liangzhu Culture's rise and decline. It also represents the moat-enclosed settlement with the highest number of burials and the most abundant artifacts unearthed within the Liangzhu cultural sphere. Six interconnected moat-enclosed earthen platforms form the most comprehensive and typical complex settlement assemblage of this culture. Exceptionally well-preserved and fully excavated remains—including moats, house foundations, plazas, and cemeteries—exhibit clear spatial organization and a strictly hierarchical burial system, providing critical empirical evidence for decoding Liangzhu social structure and stratification. This unique settlement pattern, which bridges urban and rural lifestyles, contrasts sharply with the central Liangzhu Ancient City while serving as a distinctive local microcosm that illuminates the civilization's pluralistic dimensions.
The Liangzhu Culture's distinctive "spatial cohabitation burials of differing statuses" offers a rare paradigm for studying basal social organization. At Yujiashan, tombs function as both mortuary spaces and cryptographic texts of Liangzhu society. This exhibition systematically investigates burial rites and customs from five millennia ago, decrypting the culture's eschatological beliefs and revealing the hidden syntax of its social architecture.
Inscribed Ritual Bi Disc (with symbolic markings)
This Neolithic Liangzhu Culture Inscribed Ritual Bi Disc (with symbolic markings) is the first and only example excavated from a documented archaeological context in China. Its markings encode the Liangzhu people's cosmological beliefs and daily practices. Prior to its discovery at Yujiashan, all known marked bi discs were unprovenanced artifacts held in overseas collections—this find thus bridges a pivotal lacuna in the study of Liangzhu ritual jades.
Accessible Exhibition Hall
The Yujiashan Archaeological Museum prioritizes accessibility, featuring barrier-free pathways throughout the facility, touchable replicas of pottery and jades, and a sound theater playing simulated sounds from the Neolithic period. Its warm and comfortable accessible exhibition hall ensures equal access to public cultural services for all visitors.
As museums widen access to become collective history-engaging spaces, inclusive stewardship sheds top-down paternalism, transforming into needs-based co-creation rooted in the lived realities of communities.
