非洲考察1|初抵塞伦盖蒂

今年年初，小大建筑事务所接触到位于非洲坦桑尼亚塞伦盖蒂国家公园内某酒店的设计项目。借此契机，我们有幸深入草原腹地，进行实地考察。

At the beginning of this year, Kooo Architects was invited to participate in a hotel design project within Tanzania’s Serengeti National Park. This opportunity allowed us to carry out a comprehensive field survey in the heart of the Serenge

项目所在的塞伦盖蒂国家公园——这片被联合国教科文组织列入《世界遗产名录》的东非秘境，"塞伦盖蒂"在马赛语中蕴含着诗意的意境，意为"无垠之原"。

The project site lies within Serengeti National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. In the Maasai language, “Serengeti” carries a poetic meaning: “endless plains.”

我们从东京和上海两地出发转机，

经多哈转机飞抵乞力马扎罗机场后，

乘坐经过非洲越野改装的兰德酷路

场地位于距离机场大约400公里的地方，需要慢慢地开车前往目的地。同时对沿途的酒店和动物进行考察。

Situated about 400 kilometers from the airport, the project site could only be reached by an extended drive through the park. Along the way, we visited several lodges and observed the surrounding landscape and wildlife as part of our field study.

随着车辆前行，沿途的风景清晰地展现着地形与气候的变迁。这段旅程仿佛是与项目所在地的一场无声交流。与以往对非洲炎热的固有印象不同，六月的坦桑尼亚气候凉爽，十分宜人。

As the vehicle pressed on, the shifting scenery traced a gradual transition in terrain and climate, offering a silent dialogue with the land we were approaching. Far from the common image of sweltering African heat, Tanzania in June greeted us with a cool and pleasant climate.

汽车驶离城镇，周围的景色逐渐变化，呈现出非洲特有的自然风貌。

不久后，我们开始看到动物的身影，眼前展现出一望无际、充满非洲风情的大草原。

The vehicle left the town behind as the surrounding landscape gradually gave way to Africa’s characteristic scenery. Soon after, wildlife began to appear, and the vast open plains of the Serengeti stretched out before us.

当真正抵达塞伦盖蒂草原的那一刻，所有人都被眼前辽阔无垠的景观所震撼。尽管出发前已对场地情况做了了解，但亲临其境的震撼感仍远超预期。极目远眺，天地相接。此刻，如何在"塞伦盖蒂"这片辽阔土地上进行建造“在我们心底里重新思考。

Upon reaching the Serengeti plains, we were struck by the sheer expanse stretching endlessly before us. Even with prior research and preparation, the experience of standing there in person surpassed all expectations. As the horizon blurred where earth and sky converged, we began to quietly reconsider what it means to build on such vast and unbounded land.

现场勘测过程中，斑马与角马群常在附近悠然踱步。这里既无网络信号，也缺乏显著地标，我们只能依靠GPS定位坐标；场地很大，必须通过无人机进行整体的勘察。

During the field survey, zebras and wildebeests often grazed nearby. With no cellular signal or distinct landmarks, we relied solely on GPS coordinates. Given the site's vastness, drone surveys became essential for comprehensive assessment.

次下车都需持枪护林员贴身护卫，因为场地内不时有野兽出没。树丛中窜出的野猪，

野生动物的脚印、

蚂蚁窝、生长在场地的树木，还有动物留下的各种痕迹——围

绕这片土地的非洲大自然清晰可见，展现出它的丰富与生机。

Armed rangers accompanied us whenever we stepped out of the vehicle, as wildlife could appear at any moment. Warthogs darting through the bushes, animal tracks etched into the ground, ant colonies sprawling below, and native trees rooted across the site—all these traces made Africa’s natural world vividly present, revealing its richness and vitality.

由于无法铺设水管，团队正在寻找潜在的地下水源;由于远离城市，几乎所有能源都需要实现场地内自给自足。

With no possibility of laying pipelines, the team is exploring potential groundwater sources. Nearly all energyrequirements must be met through self-sufficient systems on site

自然公园保护条例严格限制，不能从外部运进植物，只能在场地内移栽，因此必须详细记录现有树木的分布与特性。

Strict nature park regulations prohibit bringing in external plants, allowing only on-site relocation of existing vegetation. This made it essential to carefully record the location and attributes of all existing trees.

在勘察过程中，我们震惊地发现项目红线范围内竟然栖息着狮群。这片非洲土地原始而危险，散发着独特的魅力。

During the survey, we were startled to find that lion prides inhabit the project boundary. The land here is both raw and unpredictable, with a unique and compelling presence.

These extraordinary African experiences are reshaping our perspectives while fueling anticipation for the unique design challenges ahead.

在这片神奇的土地上，每日轮回的朝阳与暮色因野生动物剪影的映衬而更具神性，仿佛在诉说着生命循环的原始真谛。虽然面对自然的宏大尺度时总感自身渺小，但我们愿放下既有经验的束缚，真正沉浸于塞伦盖蒂丰厚的文化底蕴与风土脉搏，让这片土地为建筑设计注入全新的灵魂。

On this extraordinary land, the daily rise and fall of the sun feels even more profound against the silhouettes of wildlife, quietly reflecting the cycles of life. Standing before such vastness, we set aside prior assumptions to fully engage with the Serengeti’s cultural depth and natural rhythms, letting the place guide a new direction in our design thinking.

非洲广袤而瑰丽的大地，当地居民质朴真诚的笑容，加上长袖衬衫正适宜的温凉气候，竟比想象中更令人心旷神怡。

面对塞伦盖蒂国家公园孕育的丰富文化与风土的同时，我们希望通过这个项目，寻找属于我们自己的全新感受。

Africa’s vast and magnificent landscapes, the warm and genuine smiles of local communities, and the pleasantly cool climate proved far more uplifting than we had imagined. As we encounter the rich culture and diverse environments nurtured by Serengeti National Park, this project becomes an opportunity to seek new experiences and perspectives. While challenges lie ahead, Kooo Architects remains committed to working closely with all partners to explore the possibilities together.
